When I was a kid, my dad - a blue collar guy with an hourly wage job -- could take me and my two brothers to watch the Cincinnati Royals five or six times a year. Oscar Robertson was a constant and we saw guys like Wilt, Bill Russell, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, and so on. I don't know what it cost, but we were basically lower working class and it was still affordable.

I make pretty good money now. And I can only afford the $300 for two tickets for ordinary seats to see the Wizards play once a year -- twice at most -- for my son.

Actually, I suppose I could afford it more often but I'd feel like a chump spending that much repeatedly for something that honestly, I don't really enjoy that much. The product can often suck. Wall was out last year, Beal was injured. We saw the Wizards play the Knicks and Julius Randle was the only guy on both teams who didn't look like a G-League player. I get the feeling my son would enjoy a Maryland Big Ten game more, and we're going to start doing that more often and skip the NBA.

So yeah, I like Rondo okay. But whining about a $400 hotel room? Kiss my ***.

I am fairly certain he was joking but even if he wasn't viewed thru his prism I get it . With that said Rondo is a very odd dude. An insanely good guy at his heart as the amount he does for those in need in terms of charities and whatnot is astounding but he is an odd cat none the less. Sorta like Kyrie Irving in that regard.

Well, if Adam Silva wants to quarantine these players in the village for weeks on end then he should know he's dealing with MILLIONAIRE'S and accommodate them as such.. Rondos closet is probably bigger than that room .If I show up to a gathering and the host is handing out Natty ice & Ole Milwaukee best I'm gonna crack jokes.

He's not out of touch, he's a freaking MILLIONAIRE. He's Been one for over a decade! That room is small. Sure YOUR nice 2000 sq foot home may seem cozy to you, but put bill gates or Oprah in that house and they'll probably have a claustrophobic anxiety attack.

I just don’t like complainers man. Rondo you got it made, you have nothing to complain about. I don’t think it was joke but maybe
Exactly. Suck it up buttercup. You're being paid millions to play a game. It's only a few weeks, and you still get room service and someone making your bed etc. I don't think it was a joke at all.

To be fair, the dude is worth millions. He is used to staying in high-end suites and getting catered to endlessly. It's not that he is out of touch with reality, that just is his reality.
That is indeed true...but also points to why athletes' opinions on every day matters in life are nearly pointless opinions. Listening to Lebron, Steve Kerr, Kyrvie Irving, Greg Poppavich, etc...opine about other items politically...it's fine to have their own opinion but it's a complete out of touch with reality when you talk about things like immigration, guns, education systems, civil rights, etc... their context is nothing like 99% of the rest of society.

To me all of these NBA guys sounded like total fools/hypocrites when the China vs. Hong Kong issue hit last year. THese guys have no idea what it's like to see your neighborhood jobs all move to China and the human rights they dont' give to their own citizens....but they all had big opinions on a bevy of other American issues.

I agree with this 100%. Only people can’t think For themselves follow these guys on social media and pretty much live by their word, celebrities same. Unfortunately, that seems to be the majority of young people

What kinda work do you do? I worked up in DC in 2000 for about three months, switch contracting work for AT&T. Worked down on 13th and H (three blocks from the White House) and used to drive past the MCI Center (Verizon Center now) every day.

I liked it up there pretty well, for the most part. We got lucky and got a room for $50 a night. It did, however, increase around $10 a night, due to the Cherry Blossom Festival. Good Lord, talk about the tourism.

Also, worked in Orlando about six months later, doing RAN (cell site) work for AT&T. We actually got to do the install for the Disney cell site. Always thought that was really cool. I really enjoyed Orlando, as there is just so much to do down there. Not to mention, the “scenery” there is damn noice as well. And a lot of it. ;)

I agree with some of what you said, but disagree with some.

On lifestyle, they probably can't really relate to the struggles of any avg person, post-high school. However, immigration, guns, education, civil rights and so forth aren't really lifestyles. Much of those impact society and its members the same, regardless of wealth.

lmao. Yeah, you may have gone overboard with your response to him, but I was thinking the same thing.....who whines about free beer? Either drink it or shut the heck up. And I'm a craft beer and quality bourbon connoisseur. If someone hands me a Natty, 'preciate it bro. Crack it open and lets go.
Yeah oh well. People like that irk me

Saw an old video from the sixties by Vic Bubas complaining about the banning of the dunk.He said we are charging up to four dollars for tickets and cutting the entertainment for the fans.It costs about a thousand dollars with parking and hotels to see a game today

It's just extremely tone deaf. There's people that are still out of work, may not get their job back, have lost businesses and livelihoods, lost a house etc. And he's bitching about a free room at Disney while getting paid millions. Extremely tone deaf, IMO.
All those folks you mentioned probably have more important things to worry about than where Rajon is sleeping tonight.
