-Vegas open for Business today :fire:

-Pete Dye @ French Lick - Wow. We played it around 7000, with constant 15-30mph winds all day...felt like 7400. You have no chance there as a first timer without a caddy, which weren't available...classic Dye, everything is an illusion and designed to look impossible, but actually isn't if you know where to go. 90 :)joy:), followed up by an afternoon 76, which would have been under par about anywhere else...not sure I could top a 76 if I played it 50 times tbh. I wouldn't call it 'fun' by any stretch, but it's an experience any local golfer should seek at least once - the views/etc are just unreal up there.

-JM Butler, Trinity kid & Mr Golf (headed to Auburn) was there with us. He shot a few under in the morning, and then played the 8100 tips by himself, which is 450 yards longer than the longest PGA Tour Course (Torrey Pines South), and shot a 75. They've had numerous big time tourneys out there, and never used those tees. Course rating of 80, which essentially means that's what 'par' would or should be. 330 yard Par 3, average Par 4 around 500, Par 5s 650. Lmao.

Believe he's at LCC, Brooksie? He won the Dye National Junior at Crooked Stick last weekend by 4 shots, besting John Daly II, among other top national kids. Kid may very well be on the Tour someday.

-The longer this goes on, the more I think all this Covid hysteria was complete ********. At least, for the past month or so. From what I'm seeing, for most people it's out of sight/out of mind.

^ Pools not being open is the biggest joke of all though, imo.

-Finally starting to feel like summer, a little. Still doesn't really though, despite the weather -or maybe that's just me.

-Anyone have a beef jerky gun? Had my eye on one for awhile...recs/link?

I've got a beef jerky gun, Deep Dish.

I think mine is made by LEM or something like that. They work well.

I just make the flat sticks. The round ones need a casing or they look like cat turds.

Tons of recipes all over the intrawebs, or swing by a Cabella's or Bass Pro. They have a shitload of jerky related seasonings and products.

Use lean ground beef (or venison). Use cooling racks on top of baking sheets.

The jerky they make is awesome. It is like a Slim Jim, not the teeth breaking Mingua Bros. style. I made a 3 lb batch about a month or so ago.

I've never understood it - I've probably had 20 bags lifetime, and each and every one I swear I'll never get it again.

**** is thin, though, stringy shoe leather -- and the flavorings have a burnt taste. Props to them for becoming a Kentucky Institution on a marginal product, I guess.

Btw, they dropped the 'Bros' several years ago. Family dispute or just marketing related?

Been making my own jerky for about 15 yrs. Never used a gun.

Eye of round sliced on a #2 setting. On my 3rd dehydrator, this one has lasted awhile. 6 shelf system than can handle about 3lbs at a time.

I make own marinade and soak 1-2 days. Playing with marinade recipes is fun and the biggest challenge.

Franks is hands down best butcher shop I’ve ever used in 15 yrs of doing this. It’s actually difficult to get places to slice for you, which is a huge time saver on prep

Buddy's dad (which is always the best source for jerky) makes a hamburger style flat jerky. Almost a Salisbury steak texture. It's ridiculous.

I vary drying times/temps depending on what I want out that batch. You can make as chewy or as tough as you want. I normally go high temp for couple hours to get inside decently done then drop it down so outside isn’t tough.

Sane with marinade, can do higher sweetness or higher smoke.

Mingua is just so damn salty. I like the flavor they achieve but damn.

Allegro Hickory Smoke is a great base for marinade. Franks turned me onto that.

it’s a great lil hobby that you can achieve a ton of different flavors. Getting the right dehydrator is key though. One with a timer is a must.

Drew Brees was named 2010 SI Sportsman of the Year for his efforts to help rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. What an *******.
In today’s society we should really investigate one’s political views completely on all issues before awarding them any recognition or prizes.

My 56 year old dad who’s worked outside in construction, never smoked, and been under 200 lbs his entire life had a heat attack this morning. The human body can be a *****.

Hope he is ok cricket.

-76 is straight fire for that course. Props doggy.

- do you know if that kid from Trinity is Marshall Butler's son? Played against him in highschool, good golfer.

- have a dehydrator I bought from Cabela's years ago, pretty inexpensive if I recall. I usually do 1 whole deer a year in it. I like it better than beef. I know several guys that use the over and it turns out just fine.

- I "liked" Anthony's post. But I want to go on record, that it wasn't for the " I could last longer in the wild" take. They don't let you bring your Range Rover doggy.

Sorry, thought I was clearly saying my confidence to last out there was unwarranted. I'd be calling the nearest Marriott asap.

.

It is.

Deer anything is unreal - but, nothing tops Summer Sausage + Saltines. I can easily wax a tube & sleeve in one sitting if I'm not careful. The amish back home do ours, and they speck it w/ cheese & chilis. :fire: - after seeing my family, my favorite part of going home.

Prayers for you dad, Cricket. Mel had one 18 months ago and ended up having quadruple bypass surgery and he's recovered pretty well. Hope your old man makes it in/out of the hospital with ease.

- Golf tomorrow in Lawrenceburg with Booker and the boss. Don't really care about scoring well, just want to get the swing back to a good place.

- Is Bonzo Nation open to GYERO yet or just limited to immediate family during these uncertain times? Ready for some some freshhhhhh vodka tonics (using the not-overrated Jack Rudy syrup).

- I don't understand why re-iterating ALL LIVES MATTER can get you fired -- even in 2020. But on the other hand via Twitter I saw some euro whiteys being admonished for their privilege BY REMOVING GRAFFITI OFF BUILDINGS. The careful contest of wokeness has reached new heights never before thought possible.

-- Kyle Tucker and Mark Ennis teaming up on BJW isn't ideal for my Twitter health. Really is the end of times.

- The BHG Four Roses OBSF pick I grabbed last week is dope. Gonna wait to crack OESK they just released and see what happens with it. BHG really knows what they're doing their barrel picks. Y'all can keep your Buffalo Trace sauce, though. Unless it's BTAC I'm not seeking that **** out. The Weller Full Proof is good but no way shape or form is it worth $250. Screw that noise.

Pretty stoked for this 22 team NBA season. Any of the big injuries going to be back with this extry time? Irving, Durrant, Wall, Cousins?

How does the Four Roses Small Batch Select (just bought one) compare with Four Roses Single Barrel?

People are getting off on being virtuous right now... it will pass. Remember after 9/11 everyone was yay rah rah America? That quickly went to if you don't agree to blow up the entire Middle East you hate America. It will reach a point where people start thinking again and then get back to normal.

I love both, prefer the single barrel picks if I'm choosing but I've not had all the versions. Also liked when it was higher proof.

Geese is the 4Rose honk so he should be one here to tell you about the dried spice, rich plum, and aged driftwood notes.

My weariness is going to be the freaking out of college football players returning to campus and testing positive for the Rona. It is going to happen. I feel pretty good that the universities have a plan. This isn't March anymore.

5 Bama players tested positive today. All asymptomatic. They were with most of the team yesterday. So we're going to figure it out early on.
