All I said was to note how bad of a golfer he is portrayed to be compared to his baseball stint.

PTI acts like we are on here calling him the next Willie Mays.

Tony Romo, Annika Sorenstam, and Steph Curry have all played men's professional golf at a very high level -- and performed quite nicely while doing so.

Imagine if they just played golf full time. They'd probably all get their card and be on the PGA Tour.

Quite a bit of revisionist history with Jordan's baseball career. Don't let the enthusiasm of his aura and The Last Dance blind you to his abilities.

He barely hit .200, his on-base % was below .300, and he hit for almost no power. Add to that he led the league in errors, and was a horrible baserunner -- getting thrown out on 18 of 48 stolen base attempts.

So he was basically the worst hitter, base runner, and fielder in the league that season. Of course you can assume he'd have been a much better player had he committed full time, but it's impossible to say to what extent. It would take a mighty gigantic leap of faith to think he'd tranform from the worst player in the league to a major leaguer simply by making it his full time job. Technically, almost anyone would be capable of being the worst player in the league.

Happy to drop a big ole [eyeroll] on this hysteria.

So a 31 yr old who hadn't played baseball in umpteen years did that at the AA level (which is light years ahead of A ball) ? It's actually mind blowing that you don't know how good that actually is for someone in his position.

You really are pretty f'ing stupid about baseball. Really f'ing stupid.

I think Jordan proved he could probably play professional baseball reasonably well at some level, and that’s about it. He was literally the worst player in the league, so assuming he’d be anything more than just a serviceable minor leaguer is nonsense.

The whole deal with Frederick Douglass turning into a talent bonanza is a complete mystery to me. I'm assuming that there's something shady surrounding it but don't really care as long as UK benefits.

I was wondering about that. Is it a new school? I can’t recall ever hearing of it until the last few years.

-they were able to cherry pick all the "top" kids from HC and Station...kind if an all star team. There may be more stuff going on as well, idk.

This is completely anecdotal, but the inclusion of the Carter G. Woodson academy as being part of Douglass, mixed with some suspect living situations, has helped a lot. Mostly the former.

he may not have become a starter in the bigs, but he certainly would’ve become a role player and 4th/5th outfielder.

Dude.

There are dozens of guys every single year who spend years in the minors absolutely MASHING, only to get to the bigs and realize they can't keep up with the talent level.

How in the world you can take Jordan's performance at Double-A and be convinced he should have ended up in the majors, I'll never know.

Yeah, but historically there haven't been very many "all stars" at either of those schools - certainly not to the degree that Clemson, Oklahoma, etc. would come calling on a regular basis. That school seems to produce 5 or 6 high D-1 prospects a year now - I can't recall that ever being the case at any Lexington school. At least not in the last 30 years or so.

Carter G. Woodson Academy helps I’m sure because they can pull from the entire city.

Doesn’t explain Jager Burton and Walker Parks though.

The entire state of Kentucky may not have produced that many D-1 players that ended up with *elite* offers. If we have something crooked going on, thank god its at a school literally down the street from Commonwealth so we can take full advantage.

- Got word on Friday the office is opening back up May 18th. Considering I started the new gig on March 16th but was only there two days before being sent home to work, this feels more like my official start date.

- Eastern eyeing that June 15th starting date. CFC been practicing like crazy out back on nice days, he's ready.

- New stadium is nice, but really missing just cutting one street over and through the hole in the fence to enjoy a cooler of ice cold domestos on the outfield deck at THE CLIFF about this time of year. What a great thing they had going there.

- I'm not the hardcore horseball many in here are, so I'm genuinely wondering: any other SEC school offer the potential for a day at the track and a night game every fall?

- Lass is in a group text that honestly could stand up to about any other on being tasteless at times, from some of the things she forwards to me. Least shocking thing about this random: Boat's lass is in the same group.

- Classic Pigs in a Blanket as an afternoon snack over the weekend: Lil' Smokies rolled in crescent dough, thrown in the oven for a few, dipped in mustard. Hadn't had them in forever. Easy as it gets and delicious.

- Wynn's "mumbling under his breath" random is about as hard as I've laughed at GYERO in a long time. Can relate :100points:.

- I wonder if Douglass is going to continue having the recruiting success it has had now that Landis has moved on to Georgia State.

- I honestly can't tell most of the time if Rogue is just trolling all of us.

- Top 5 Youth Sports Movies of My Generation:
1. The Sandlot (and it's not even close)
2. Rookie of the Year
3. The Mighty Ducks
4. The Karate Kid (I'm counting it)
5. The Little Giants

I know I'll get called out for not including Bad News Bears, but it was before my time.

You’re right PTI, he wouldn’t have improved or caught up to his competition, definitely would’ve just remained “the worst player in AA baseball”...

crazy of me to think a guy hadn’t touched a bat in 14 years was able to step in and be a contributor at a level he had zero business being in would get better.

I'm sensing some hostility here, Josh.

And Little Big League tried too hard.

KPP is nice because it's new... but that's just about the most soulless ballpark I can imagine being built. It's honestly like they tried to make it as cold and unwelcoming as possible.

All city schools....and even a few who couldn't cut it at Scott Co's recruiting "tryouts".

“For Love of the Game” was probably the most accurate baseball portrayal movie, set aside the romantic/drama non-baseball stuff.

having Vin Scully calling it, the luck involved in a perfect game, your teammates elevating their game in that moment, random young kid with zero sense of the magnitude pinch hitter to try and wreck it, it all tracked.

the final out was a bit of a stretch but very plausible.

Bull Durham right behind it... not so much the actual baseball, but the environment/dialogue/mentality was. Little Big League was pretty good too.

Will be interesting to see if FD can become a thorn in the Louisville schools side (mainly Trinity). With that much talent going up against KY schools they better start winning state titles. Seeing that those schools have recruited for years it's about time a Lexington school gets with the program and makes a run at their dominance in whatever the highest class is in KY now.

Sustaining that will be hard in this area w/ Lex Cath and Scott Co both competing for those kids as well.
