Haarms top 10

You can't compare the Zags and UK it just doesn't make any sense. They play in the Pepperdine conference and while they are a solid program the only reason they get 30 wins a year and a 1 seed is because they go 3+ months of the season playing nobody.

Why would Haarms want to go to a school and play Santa Clara, SF, and Pacific? Would this really showcase anything? Going by his words it feels like Uk is the slam dunk here. The biggest stage compared to the Zags where most zone out after their conference play starts. To be pushed every day in practice by the best players and then be able to play with guys like Clarke and Boston when every game is primetime. Cal has put a good deal more guys in the league than Few. If Haarms is serious and up to the challenge I think it's a no brainer that he chooses UK. He makes the biggest impact by choosing UK. The Zags won't miss a beat in the post without him, he's just a luxury where we actually need him.

If he wants to be the guy who helps a team get to a title, practice every day to improve on his weaknesses against NBA level guys and get in the best shape of his life and play in front of tons of scouts each game on the biggest stage of college BB with the most passionate fans there are, then he picks UK. No one on that list is in our realm.

Cal himself told him the door was open to come back

you are nothing but a troll and very close to going on the ignore list
If the best you've got is that you think I'm a troll, then the best I've got for you is move along. Your attitude is poor, and I don't see you faring well at a table of sports fans with open minds and differing opinions. I've forgotten more about sports than you've seen, I'll tell you that much.

I will still be alive whether he picks Gonzaga or not. I see people get killed on here all the time for telling the truth. The arrogance of some people on here just makes them look stupid. Anyone with a different opinion with this crowd and they start yelling troll troll over and over which like I said makes them look stupid to the rest of the world.
It does. There are many people here who I don't completely agree with, or at all, but I don't see them as trolls. They're just human beings with different perspectives. Now, the people who play the name-calling games and pretend to be insiders when they're obviously not? Well.....

The Zags Won at least 30 games the last 4 years, the Cats haven't. Went to at least the sweet 16 5 years in a row, the Cats haven't. The Zags have been to the final 4 since the Cats have. The Zags have been to the Championship game since the Cats have. The Zags have been to the NCAA tournament 20 years in a row the Cats haven't. The Zags have won at least 1 game in the tournament 11 straight years, the Cats haven't. The Zags have had the best team in the country 3 of the last 4 years. Most of the Cats championships were before I was even alive, and I am an old man. The Zags or any small school will never be allowed to win the ncaa championship, because more money can be made by one of the big boys winning, and the ncaa is all about making money, not who has the best team. Arrogance such as yourself is why most other fan bases hate the Cats. By the way I am also a cat fan and have probably watched or listened to 100 Cat games for every 1 that you have.
Notice that no one liked your post...because the ZAGS play in a crappy conference. UK would win 30 games every year too if they played in the dunkin donuts league. Please type something relevant next time ..thanks

Cal was quoted numerous times inviting Johnny back. Look up something for once please.
I read those quotes, and I feel that Cal took the right approach. He rarely ever throws his kids under the bus. He wants best for the kids, as much as that has hurt the program, if a kids wants to leave he's not going to stop them. What do you want him to say: sorry, kid, you quit. Get lost.

Plus for an exposure standpoint, Zags are left coast time with very little exposure.

Have been saying for a while so don't be surprised if we get these 3 back and i am sticking to that until they say they are leaving.
Fingers crossed, Western, fingers crossed.
I would be stoked if those three came back. It would give us the advantage we should have.

Cal didn’t have any problem letting Sestina shoot the three. Seemed like even Reid Travis would put up at least one a game.
Couple of things, here...

For starters,. Nick and Reid are both about 6 inches shorter than Haarms...Not that important, but important...

Secondly, Sestina was a career 37% shooter from three. Upon arriving at UK, he was known to be a good shooter for a "big"; 6'9". He shot 38% from three is final year at Bucknell----And on 108 attempts. Which is relevant to your, "cal didn't have an issue with him shooting the three.." I mean, he only took 54 at UK. Some of that due to missed games....But still. Didn't seem he had the "green light" as he did @ Bucknell.

Sestina/ Haarms are two totally different players.

Reid took 25 three's in 32 games. That's about what I expect from Haarms----If that. He's not a good shooter. Sure he'll make ya one here or there. But its not part of his game...It however, was a part of Sestina's game. Hence why he took 54 attermpts. IMO, he should've gotten more. But that's a whole other discussion.

are you really stupid enough to not know that not all schools offer the same graduate programs? my daughter had to go to UC for hers, because nobody else within 2 hours drive offered it including UK, NKU , Xavier, Dayton, loserville and so on .....and we despise Cincinnati

Kids leaving have not hurt the program. UK is top ten almost every year. 7 elite 8s in 9 years. UK will always be fine.

Wrong. It has killed continuity, makes team / system building much more difficult than it needs to be. Are you suggesting that poor reffing and bad luck are the reason for underachieving?

Those kids would not be leaving if Cal quit recruiting top players. However top players is why Cal has won more games than any other coach in the past 10 years. I guess you want him to recruit average players that will stay 4 years and make the NCAA tournament every 4-5 years. That should help in the continuity category.

Richards isn’t coming back, IMHO.

I am hoping we get Haarms.

Our roster next season:

G Askew/Mintz
G Clarke/Allen
G Boston/Fletcher
F Brooks/Ware
F Haarms/Jackson

Sweet Sixteen team, unless Askew is better than expected.

Askew can shoot it. Boston is decent, I believe. Hopefully Brooks improves. Clarke is not a very good shooter. Haarms shot 31% from 3 last year, not bad for a big man.

The bench has Mintz (35% career from 3) and Allen (reportedly a very good shooter).

Probably a typical Cal team, shooting 33-34% from 3 for the season with probably the fewest attempts in the SEC.

Need to make sure the right people are taking the right shots at the right times. That is the key to shooting the 3 in Cal’s offense.

I think Mintz will start as the lead guard with Askew playing several minutes. We will be fine at the point guard position.

Kentucky has won 8 championships,Kentucky is a blue blood, calipari>few, zags play in a terrible conference where it’s a one bid league,I can go on and on,stop with this nonsense it doesn’t compare.
