Tony Bennett = hell no
Come on Ed, heck you could go to the concessions or bathroom whenever and never miss a score.

I like Kenny Payne. He would do a good job would not get us in trouble and the player would play hard for him. And he can recruit. BUT why is it every dam year at this time of year someone always ask if Cal leaves he is not going any where
I still think we have a good replacement already here in Kenny Payne. Plus it would keep him from going to ul.
This topic always turns into masturbatory CLOD cosplay.
Don’t even wanna know what a CLOD is.Is Matt Jones in the CLOD since he brought this topic up this morning on the radio????? PS...... He and Cal are buddies.... ..
Me too!Billy D. for me!
But I hope Cal is around for at least ten more years. Come to think of it I hope I am around in ten more years!
Don’t even wanna know what a CLOD is.
I don't know, never heard the dudes show. I'm strictly speaking of the way this topic plays out here.Is Matt Jones in the CLOD since he brought this topic up this morning on the radio????? PS...... He and Cal are buddies.... ..
If you keep Payne... its gotta be a 1 year test run and if the guy doesnt do gang busters ... you better use that year to recruit a Donovan or Stevens to UK. Barnhart cant survive another horrible hire in basketball.. not in the social media age.
Nominated for a "Postie"Billy D has turned us down too many times. He had his chance
No, Yes, YesThey were talking hypothetical Calipari replacements on KSR today. They said Mitch doesn’t have a number one option right now but at this moment would you take Beard, Pearl or Donovan?
Just an interesting conversation, don’t think Cal is leaving. Let’s get number 9
Care to explain why you think that...I think he'd be great here..Can coach and recruitBruce Pearl would be a Billy G like disaster. He could not coach a blueblood. Auburn and Tennessee are perfect for him, he's a good coach. Not elite
No thank you on Mack...So over the past few years the top of Barnhart's list at times were Mike White, Shaka Smart, Greg Marshall etc.............
GOD DONT LET THAT MAN MAKE THE DECISION. If it wasnt for Pratt and Nike pushing for Cal..... we'd of been in for a big hurting like another BCG just without the booze...
You call Donovan , Stevens, Vogul......... you offer 8 million a year... then call back and offer 9... then if still no you offer 10 million ... if that fails, you call Nike and see who they'd want at UK since then you know they'd help out whoever they pushed for the job
It would be hilarious if Mack made a final four....... and we hired Mack from UL with them facing even more sanctions...
I’ve only been on this site for a couple weeks and I’m already sick of the negativity.
Nope Billy D has said no twice. Do you keep asking a girl out that rejects you?
If she’s hot enough and the other options are 7’s you do,
It’s funny that this was a nice rational discussion until all the master baiters showed up. You know, the ones that love to pick fights. Is Matt Jones in the CLOD since he brought this topic up this morning on the radio????? PS...... He and Cal are buddies.... ..
It took 3 times of asking Pitino to coach UK for him to come here........ Famous story told by CM Newton many times before his passing.Just out of curiosity, have you ever been subject to a restraining order? [smoke]
I agree on the ages of some of these other coaches mentioned.Serious question for all you throwing out Donovan, Pearl, etc. How long do you think Cal is going to be here?
I mean seriously, at this point do you not see him retiring from here in 8-10 years?
These guys are all similar age....Pearl is 60, not 45 and has baggage, Donovan is in NBA, has 2 NCAA titles and is 55. Stevens, maybe but he is with the freaking Celtics and is super highly thought of...I guess he is the only possibility I see if you threw the world at him.
Names to think of in seriousness:
1. Kenny Payne
- disagree if you want but he is sticking around for a reason, he is 53 and his been with Cal since Day 1 at UK.
2. Chris Holtman
- Lexington ties, late 40's, has some work to do for consideration
3. Mark Pope
- UK grad, title winner, mid/late 40's, up and comer
4. Chris Beard
- proven winner and is in mid/late 40's, but was he a one shot wonder?
5. John Brannen
- moving up ranks, highly thought of, at UC now and is in mid 40's, already coached at NKU and is from NKy.
6. Joel Justus
- he is late 30's and is Cals golden boy, if 10 years go by he will have been with Cal for 15+ years.
The list is small. Cal is boarding on uncharted territory since Rupp at UK in terms of tenure. If he puts in 18-20 years here and is tied to the program like I suspect it isn't getting flipped to someone on a whim. It will be publicly announced that it is his last season and it is going to KP IMO. Cal has a lot of power here...I am not sure people are considering that.
Care to explain why you think that...I think he'd be great here..Can coach and recruit
Zero chance Brad Stevens or Billy D comes to UK. ZERO. The options are limited for our next coach and whoever it is won’t come close to matching Cal’s run, even though I am sure that person will be successful. Since I think Cal will be here another 5 years at least, you never know who could develop as a top notch coach over that time. I must say I am impressed with Mark Pope, but he still has to show a lot more before he could ever even be considered.
No. Not at all. Stevens or Billy D aren’t leaving the NBA imo. Anyone else is fair game.Well if anyone develops into a star coach.. according to you there would be a 0% chance of them coming here.

Yes he was. But he also had a strained relationship with the Knicks front office. It was a perfect storm. Stevens is loved in Boston and as far as I can see, Billy D is popular in OKC.Pitino was a playoff coach for the Knicks and came to UK

Well apparently those rumors aren’t true since he still coaches there. OKC is 37-23 this year and will be solidly in the playoffs. There have been rumors about Donovan being fired from OKC for 2 years now.... rumors like that usually happen when some are not happy with the coach.
Post something worthwhile and not old and redundant then
So teams like Vandy dont even try and talk with with Payne but we should give him the head coaching position at UK?
might consider taking a step outside yourself and just watch how you operate. You would NOT be impressed haha. Man, you deserve all the roasting you get for being so dramatic about how you want to control a message board. If you don’t like the topic, move on
I agree Cal is likely not going anyway but as a manager we have succession talks all the time. I’m not actively looking for a job but twice per year you know someone Is going to ask for my OLR. In this, it’s purely a hypothetical and not outside the realm of normal business operation. Your career seems to be windmill battling, to borrow from Cervantes. In short, just chill. Your slip is showing
