I’d definitely offer the bank to Stevens but I don’t think he’d take it. You might as well make a call to Billy to see if he’s interested afterwards. College coaches- Beard would be about my top choice right now. After that, anybody else scares me a little. Payne could be a huge success or a colossal bust; we just don’t know how he’d do as a head coach.

This is all just how I feel if they had to find a new coach after this season. My hope is that Cal sticks around a while longer and his replacement isn’t even on the radar yet.

Eff Billy D! He’s turned us down twice and I wouldn’t wanna hear his Pitino’s made up accent; quite embarrassing.

Wish Pearl was a few years younger, would make great successor to Cal. He’s made mistakes, but so has Cal.

Love my wife and would never cheat on her. But you other guys on here surely can’t honestly say that you’ve never fantasized about the single lady down the road if something happened, God forbid, between you and your wife, or if God called her home? Am I the only one to ever do that? Doubt it, but if so, let me have it I guess.

Well, Walter McCarty is out, and Rick Barnes has removed his name from consideration. So, I guess we’ll just keep Cal.

Switching gears, when Sutton left, I wanted Pat Riley. When Pitino left, I wanted Pat Riley, when Tubby left, I wanted Pat Riley. When CBCG left, we got Cal, and I forgot about Riley.
If Cal were to decide after this season to leave, and I don’t think he will (I certainly don’t want him too), I’d take Pat Riley. While I’m at it, hire Phil Jackson as an assistant. Find spots for Chuck Daley, and Popavich on the staff. Hire Mark Cuban to do ride alongs on recruiting visits.

In 10 years if he retired there will be bigger and hotter coaching candidates than what we see now.

For all saying Donovan...that ain't happening. Turned us down twice and he is no spring chicken anymore. Guy is 55 years old and Cal is going to be here another 8-10 years IMO.

Stevens is possibly realistic but highly unlikely. He isn't with the Utah Jazz, he is with the Celtics...that would be a tough sell.

IMO it is likely someone we aren't even high on right now or that is fairly young.

I don't think you can discount Kenny Payne or JJ if Cal hangs around as long as I think he will. Think when Rupp left and Joe B slid in....could see the same thing with Kenny. Would keep recruiting on up and up and would be sort of transitional for 5 years or so.

All that said, Mark Pope seems to be a hell of a coach and who knows what the next decade holds for him.

Nah. Don’t tell me what to post. Stop being so triggered.

yep, triggered. You have me figured out. Get back when you learn to post something relevant now and not something that’s going to happen ten years down the road. It’s March. Watch basketball. It’s the best month for it. You could learn something as well

I’ve only been on this site for a couple weeks and I’m already sick of the negativity.

yet you’re talking about Cal’s replacement, which won’t happen in 8-10years, which in that time, the landscape of college basketball will change tremendously (as it always does). So you’re either 1) trolling or 2) just started watching basketball

Guys. Just stop. The CLOD is salivating. It’s unsanitary and there may be a pandemic on the way.

That’s laughable my friend. Trolling by asking a question? And I’ve watched basketball and played basketball my whole life but good try. I’m talking about a subject that they brought up on the radio today. It’s not that far fetched bud

well, since Calipari is going to be here 8-10 more years, yeah, it is far fetched.

I bet anything, before you started this thread, you were like, “Oh yeah! This topic has never been done and I’m going to blow everyone out of the water with this awesome and creative post!” Admit it, you did, didn’t you?

No to Donovan. He turned us down multiple times. Let him spark his career elsewhere. If, and a big IF, you can keep a handle on Pearl's recruiting, then you go after him. Great coach, passionate about the fans, knows what the fans like to watch. Maybe to Beard.

Barnhart would throw the kitchen sink at Brad Steven's because he'd be the unanimous choice among donors, hes still fairly young, had a successful college coaching career, and has a squeaky clean history.

If Steven's turned UK down then the next option would be to try Donovan for a 3rd time. If he said no, then the rest of the list would likely be -

Chris Beard
Tony Bennett
Mark Few
Bruce Pearl

Kenny Payne.

Would potentially be the worst hire in Kentucky history. Payne, aside from a personal opinion he’s not head coach material, would never and should never be considered for the UK job. Hiring an assistant coach that played at Louisville, I’m good.

The Payne stuff kills me. It’s just absurd.

Bennett would be shouted out before it got started. There’s no way.

Pearl would never be offered the Kentucky job.

Good to see the entitlement group out in force tonight, I always enjoy a chuckle, watching them imagine the power to just take any coach they want, including one who has repeatedly turned us down.
