One thing to keep in mind when weighing SFA to Evansville is that Evansville is in the MVC which is the 11th rated conference.

SFA is in the Southland and they are rated as the 29th conference. That's quite a significant difference in competition.

Duke losing to Stephen F Austn was no better everyone was saying that was the worst loss in college basketball in the last 15 years.. Has everyone forgot Duke lost to that **** team?
SFA is 24-3, Evansville is 9-20, you honestly think SFA is no better?

People and the computers can harp on the Evansville game all they want. UK has won 12 out of 14 games including some tough road wins. What happened in the beginning of November is a reflection of a team that is totally different now.

SFA is significantly better. However, NC State, which abused Duke just last week, is a not exactly a world beater. That loss should affect Duke negatively.
I'm sure it did affect them negativity, just not enough to drop below the teams behind them.

understood. That SFA game doesn’t have anything to do with any of that, though.

SFA played a horrid schedule and is in a flat trash league. I know they’re seen as a better team but honestly their schedule reads like a parody and lol at a team from the southland.
SFA isn’t **** just like Evansville.

SFA is gonna make the NCAAT. Evansville isn’t gonna win a conference game. I really don’t see how this is difficult to comprehend. SFA is a decent team. Top 120 in about all metrics. Evansville is obscenely atrocious and ranked around 250-300.

One is just kinda meh. The other is a profound insult to actual college basketball teams.

Evansville has only won 3 games against teams over .500 all season as well. There other 6 wins are all against sub-.500 teams.

Mark Berman has UK #7.
7. Kentucky (22-5) moves up three spots after winning at LSU and beating Florida. Next: Tues. at Texas A&M and a huge game Saturday against Auburn.

Applies there as well
No. Iirc you said teams should not need the extra motivation of being slighted in the polls.
And inferred that slighting won’t motivate anymore than they already are.

same stuff said during football season.

all levels of sport. Pee wee to pros... players can get extra motivation from not feeling “respected” it’s human nature in competitive people.

but, I don’t think Cal likes to go down that path...

sorry I call BS on the whole thing. If you need to feel slighted to play extra motivated then your not a great competitor to begin with. The same player who feels slighted and extra motivated also gets a big head when the accolades come. You should be motivated to give it 110% every time out, the greats always do.

sorry this we are going to go out and prove the whole world wrong because we got a worse ranking than we should have is a load of crap. Have the same mentality regardless of ranking.

Yep that is the logic they will use for Duke staying put but god forbid UK loses lets say at UF UK will drop 10 spots. And if we lost by 22 at UF we would drop out of the poll. Seriously they would about do that.

No doubt we would drop to 19 or so. Duke could lose out and stay in the top 10. It’s gonna take 5 of the top 9 losing 3 or more games in the next two weeks and ya winning out to move up a lot. Just how it is.

Pro athletes are the same even the greats (ask anyone of them if they ever were pissed when slighted and came out a little harder after that)...EVERYONE, with an ounce of A type, is motivated more when they feel slighted... if pushed that way
To think that every play, of every game is at 110% effort is foolish. and to believe that every athlete is motivated the same way SMH...

the entire season matters. Don’t lose to **** *** teams.

And don’t schedule the worst of the worst. Cals scheduling is garbage man. Our home and homes have never been worse, our cupcakes have never been shittier. These aren’t downtown cupcakes from a specialty shop. Not even Kroger. These are on sale Walmart going out of date yesterday cupcakes.

fans got a little loud about home and homes, so we let the UNC game run dry (who would like to play them this year?) Fans complained about lack of quality December cup cakes? He then schedules 250 instead of 160. Fans decide for the first time in Rupp history to show themselves and skip a few games over the quality? UK answers that by saying “we’ll just play in London”.

The scheduling needs to change in a bad way. We need some rules in place forcing these blue bloods to play each other to some extent. The coaches are too pussified to do it.

ok then so how long does this hypothetical motivation supposed to last, just the beginning of the game, or does it come in bits and pieces throughout the game when the coach yells at them to remind them they were slighted in this weeks polls. Or does it last all game long. Really interested to know how this is supposed to work so I can look for it the next time it’s supposed to happen.

I realize how the motivation is supposed to work but that doesn’t mean it actually does. A true great one like MJ could certainly come out with a chip on their shoulder and kick your *** but your normal amateur not happening. If anything probably too amped up with adrenaline and has the opposite effect.

exactly my point, thank you!!!
"such an overplayed mantra. If you feel more motivated because polls aren’t giving you the respect you feel you deserved your not giving it your all in the first place."
okay, so everyone quit playing if you are not an MJ or Kobe....
only guys with that kinda hunger should be playing, the rest buh, bye

Where does everyone think UK should be ranked? I'd say 8th is probably fair but there isn't a team I don't want to see outside of Kansas. Azubuike just really worries me inside against Nick because of how prone to fouling Nick has been against good bigs.
To beat Kansas u get sestina, Canada, EJ and brooks healthy and foul Azubuike every time he gets in position to score. Make it tough on him. Never let him get and 1.
That's alot of wasted possessions.

Evansville is in a league all their own compared to awful losses most other power 5 schools have fighting for seeding.
unfortunate but true...
but even next year...what will be the over/under on how many times that team gets mentioned on here?
Can't we make the ignore, so that certain "post phrases" make it ignore?

Look we can agree to disagree on the subject but I never said you had to be great to have that extra hunger in you, The mantra of being disrespected may make an amateur or any competitor feel more hunger to go kick *** but it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. When the ball tips up, you are who you are. Your not going to be playing the whole game with the mindset of getting shafted in the rankings.
