Easy to say when it hasn't happened to you. Go talk to someone who has been raped and ask them this question.

I can cite thousands of women who have done that very thing. Rejected settlements or testified simply to stop it.

no one knows what happened with Kobe and her. What we know for a fact is that she was being sexual with Kobe, and he was in return. The rest is pure speculation. Even medical examiners cannot always pin point sexual assault from rough sex.

I have despised Kobe for much of my life. I’m not a fan of professional athletes in general, especially the narcissistic and victimized elitist liars of the NBA club, so I have no love lost to be honest. But the middle ground on this case is we don’t know. And anyone pretending they do is just picking sides for personal reasons.

What do you think? Update the logo with a new Laker?

I'm all for Kobe being the logo, but not this one. It's generic. I'd like to see the Kobe fist pump

I'm done discussing it. I will say this as my last thing.

At this point it doesn't matter anyway. If there is a judgment day he'll face his just like we all will when our time is up.

I guess I don't understand some of the post on here about Kobe. He was a great ball player, and one of the best of all time. Was he a great person, I don't know. What I do know, he was accused of rape, and he said it was consensual, and he got out of it. If that had been a lot of us, we would have been in prison. Money talks! He got Shaquille O'Neal traded out of LA, because he couldn't stand another big ego on the same team.
What did he do besides play basketball, to get the news to fawn over him so much?
Monday, two pilots were killed in Afghanistan in a plane crash. It's made very little news, even though they are serving their country, and a lot of military men and women are making wages, which qualifies them for food stamps, not 20 million a year. Have we got the tail wagging the dog? In my opinion, YES. I know I will catch HELL for this post, but I love America more then I do sports, and being a vet, I respect the people who sacrifice for our country, and way of life, and for some to worship athletes.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

We fawn over our celebrities. Just the way it is in America. Doesn’t mean that they were good people, but most get elevated to a mythical platform. That’s just the society we live in.

But to say that Kobe was “just a basketball player” is false. He was making a difference here in Los Angeles in the community. He didn’t just give some money and be done with it. He went down and got in the trenches and actually worked with a lot of kids, whether it be through athletics or the arts.

Yes, he was a great basketball player, and yes, he was also tremendously flawed. If people want to fawn over his death, go for it. If others want to roll their eyes and wonder what the fuss is all about, go for that too. Neither side is wrong.

Thank you for your service.

I didn’t read the whole thread. Way too long.

Just want to ask this: do they change it again when Jordan passes? Or Magic? Or Bird?

Will they change it back when West passes?

Why didn’t they change it to David Stern when he passed? He arguably contributed more to the NBA than Kobe.

I'm not in favor of changing the logo, but to those that don't want it because they said Kobe was flawed, do you think Jerry West has been a perfect saint all his life?

No I don’t think Jerry West has been a saint. No one is. No one is perfect. However, he doesn’t have the legal issues Kobe had, to my knowledge.

I’m of the opinion that if you settle out of court for a sexual assault/rape case in which you admitted making a mistake, I don’t think you should be the logo of a professional sports organization. I’m not assuming Kobe’s guilt or saying he was an awful person. Those are just the facts of what happened. I don’t know exactly what happened in 2003, and I’m not going to try to crush his character. I liked Kobe, especially more so in the last 5-6 years. I’ve been upset that he passed away. It’s the first celebrity death that’s affected me. He was part of my first basketball memory. I just don’t think he should be the logo. I like the way it is now. I like that Jerry West, an Appalachian, is the logo, but if it were to change I think it should be Bill Russell.

While I see where you’re going, none of those guys are likely to die in a horrific helicopter crash/fire. The tragedy of it adds to the desire to honor him in some way.

Maybe they could change it to Kobe for one season only? Kentucky honored Keightley by changing their unis for one year.

I don’t think David Stern’s body type would have made a great silhouette of a person dribbling a basketball

Don't know if he should be on there or not.
If they decide to change it, would be only fair for Jerry to stay on there . Leave Jerry on there dribbling, Kobe right beside him shooting and NBA underneath them. Settled. Send my royalty checks to my lawyer

Impeccable record. Amazing hops. Basketball head. Game changer. Asexual (until proven otherwise). One named phenom. A real force.

I am sticking with Yoda as the image of the NBA logo.

(he gets a bum wrap because he never had a shoe deal)

Did you guys see the awesome tribute shoes the Cats players are wearing tonight? Those are some great shoes. UK doing it classy under Coach Cal per usual. The greatest program in collegiate sports on and off the court.
