Students used to go to the ****** games. Now they don't.

We used to go watch other fellow students playing. You remember the ones you would see walking around campus, in the cafeterias, at Millennium Wednesday, at the Keys, hitting Last Call. And we would see these guys for 3-4 years just like one of us, not 7 months.

I know its the landscape of BB today but I for one don't care for it one bit.

You're spending approximately a gazillion dollars giving the barn a face lift, figure out the suite issue so you can get some of those corporate tickets that are giving seats to non-fan clients into the suites (that's more your problem than the blue hairs). Sell beer to the masses, let Mitch put a curfew on sales to make him happy. Make all uppers chair backs even if it means reducing capacity again. Have a couple more decent opponents come in during the non-conference schedule.

Boom, now your HOF coach doesn't have to send out video pleas to show up to games. Sign me up as a consultant.

I am really out of touch, admittedly. I didn't go to UK, so I didn't know students went to games to see players who they had seen walking around campus and at bars for 3-4 years.

I was basically born and raised a UK fan & I didn't realize others who posted on UK fan message boards weren't mostly the same way.

I have been going to a lot of UK games since 1998. I used to go to every football and basketball game until I had kids. The students have stopped supporting the team more and more every single year for the past 10. Maybe it is because the players aren't here for more than a season or 2 anymore. But that doesn't explain football. We finally have a decent team and the students can't be bothered to show up, and if they do, stay more than a half.

I'm old. I know. But I don't understand.

That all makes 100% sense.

Forest for the trees here....but I think PLAYING THE GAME WELL would go a long way into filling seats. Maybe people are becoming sick of justifying all the expenses and allocating time & resources into a **** basketball product. It also probably doesn't help when the coach is renowned for lecturing fans in a condescending way when **** doesn't go along with his narrow worldview.

Basketball is a beautiful game. When it is played with good tempo matched with equal skill, it's a wonderful thing to watch in person. Especially with 20K kindred spirits that understand the same sense of urgency with each bounce/whistle.

:sigh:

I mean, just play good basketball.

That's why we're all here -- right? Cal would really save himself some grief by foregoing the social media monologues, tune out the noise (HA IRONY), and effing bear down on his team's quality of play.

Geese is right - the bad offensive product has a LOT to do with this. I don't like watching bad basketball, and the college product is increasingly mostly that.

As for football, the games are too f***ing long and there is too much dead time. I have a hard time sitting in the same place for that long, and I'm not a 20-year-old ADHD-addled and screen-addicted kid. Football is dying a slow death for a variety of reasons, but this is one of them.

Girl: "here's my 10 year challenge pics. Ugh, aging sucks"

Friends: "hot mamma", "OMG you look better than ever" "you haven't aged a bit"

Girl: "omg thanks everyone, you really know how to make a girl feel special"

If you'd rather go to this game tonight then slay some Tinder-sourced college ***, then you should be driving the gd bus. True ***** move, imo.

* I bet "Grouper Fingers" would be a terrible Tinder screen name.

* Are we sure Mount Saint Mary is even a place, let alone a university? Sounds like a made up team from SNES NCAA basketball, imo.

Pick and roll on offense, send 4 guys back on defense to make us play in the half court, and occasionally we’ll dickfinger the ball to you’re 1 guy to our 4 for an offensive rebound.

Recipe to keep it close.
