PJ was also good his freshman year and really improved.Nick played poorly his first 2 seasons and EJ his freshman year.Yeah, cause no player ever improves year to year. Just look at PJ.

Potential NBA players and championships kinda goes hand in hand. I know there are some instances where junior senior dominated roster has won it but it seems like it doesn’t happen often.
Everywhere but the frontcourt we are very talented. It will be interesting to see what Cal does.
He said he is good with this roster as is, if no else comes in.
We will see if he sticks with that if Blackshear goes elsewhere.
Personally, I'm good with the roster we have.
We will play a "4 out, 1 in" most likely.
Probably play a lot of small ball.
To tell the truth, we have so much talent right now I am wondering how Cal keeps everyone happy with their minutes?

PJ averaged 10.8 points and lead the team in rebounds his frosh year.Nick 4.0 points and 3 rebounds last season.Ej 3.8 points and 4 rebounds.Yes that is really the same.Ok, they suck and should just quit because you said so.
PJ pretty well got dog cussed by some of our low brow fans his freshman year. Nick and EJ are both far better than you give them credit for. Not to worry, I don’t expect you to be able to see that.
Every player denies they're reclassifying until they do. At this point, Cliff Omoryuri could be a good option. Raw as hell, but can block shots and be an energy guy off the bench. Good insurance for a potential injury and the inevitable bad whistle in road games. He loves Cal and could be a lock for our 2020 class anyway. Get him in as a backup, and have a good head start for 2020 when the next mass exodus comes.
He's not a guy you can feed the ball to but the pickings are slim at this point. He's built like a brick ********* and can certainly fill a role as a defender/shot blocker.
But I don't think being a Mcdonald's all American means much since college is another game.Just look at Bolden at Duke being ranked so high but he did nothing and went undrafted.Former 5-star McDonald's All-American Sophomore E.J. Montgomery.
Former 5-star McDonald's All-American Junior Nick Richards.
Second ranked Grad Transfer Nate Sestina.
The post doesn't look barren, by any stretch.
I personally think Dante is our best option, if we miss on Blackshear and Cal wants another big.

So Nick can't improve? Are you saying Cal really does need ready made players and just rolls the ball out?PJ averaged 10.8 points and lead the team in rebounds his frosh year.Nick 4.0 points and 3 rebounds last season.Ej 3.8 points and 4 rebounds.Yes that is really the same.
Not what I said, sandcock! Some players have a hard time adjusting to college. I hope Nick improves but it’s his 3rd year and if we want to be legit title contenders we need Blackshear. So we cant develop players here? Our coaches need ready made players?

There has been tons of bigs who didn't come into their own until their junior year. It's like some of you don't know anything about college basketball. At this point Nick Richards is what he is after 2 years and that is 7 feet of suck. EJ on the other hand i believe can have a PJ-esque jump.
What teams are better title contenders than UK right now?Not what I said, sandcock! Some players have a hard time adjusting to college. I hope Nick improves but it’s his 3rd year and if we want to be legit title contenders we need Blackshear.
You can’t depend on flashes of good play from EJ, we need a go to scorer and KB has proven himself.
Plus he adds experience!
Now go flipflop your brain for a comeback.

It don’t matter, the best teams don’t usually win the title my friend. You need a dominant team to erase all doubt! And since we are not only facing college teams but a biased ncaa, we need all the help we can get. What teams are better title contenders than UK right now?
Most players have a hard time adjusting to college, it's a huge transition from high school. Only clown fans on Cats Illustrated are willing to throw them in the trash instead of waiting for them to develop. Not what I said, sandcock! Some players have a hard time adjusting to college. They may be the best bigs in college next year, I don’t know. I would just like to have a fourth year Blackshear, because he’s already proven.Blackshear proved himself over the course of three years and will be going into his fourth year. You are given EJ one year and Richards two.

If KB doesn’t commit, we will still be in good shape but all it takes is foul trouble and a rooferee to end our season. Does anybody want #9?

Great post . Either way we are a top 2 team next year and the hands down most talented one .Adding Blackshear would help the team, but injuries and bad officiating are just things that you can't safeguard against. Adding Blackshear just won't save us from a bad ref or an injury.
Blackshear fouls out with 6-7 minutes to go in a tight NCAA game and we are still stuck with Richards at the 5 to get us a win.
Depth doesn't save you from injury. You lose your best player and you probably don't win the title. Adding Blackshear won't help us if Hagans or Maxey get injured.
Adding Blackshear improves our talent, but it doesn't make us unbeatable.

Nazr was good just out of shape to play the style Pitino wanted. I believe he could have payed his sophomore year if he wasn’t out of shape.Aka Nazr Mohammed
Had a pretty damn great SR year
I highly doubt it. 3 seed at best without Blackshear.Great post . Either way we are a top 2 team next year and the hands down most talented one .

EJ had his chances with both PJ and Travis being hurt but did nothing with it.Pj was just a better player as a freshman and never looked lost like EJ did last season.I'm not saying the kid won't improve because I think he will but I just don't see him bein an all American next year like PJ.In Montgomery's defense, Washington had to compete with Gabriel and Killeya-Jones for minutes, while Montgomery had to compete with Washington and Travis for minutes. Big difference. Washington was the top post option as a Freshman, Montgomery was the third option in the post as a Freshman. Washington played nearly twice as many minutes as Montgomery, so it makes sense that he scored more points.

I expect EJ to be a 10 and 8 guy but my hope was him playing the 4 and Blackshear the 5.I just don't have faith in Nick at all with his foul problems and poor hands.I've read Sestina is not a good defender and I wonder how he will be against top teams.I guess Brooks could play the 4 but he seems very skinny.Even when Montgomery started, he was not the first option in the post. He had Washington beside him when Travis went down and then he had Travis beside him when Washington went down.
Now, I am not saying Montgomery was as good as Washington, just pointing out that it isn't fair to compare the two because Washington had way more opportunities on a much weaker team (IMHO) than Montgomery as Freshmen.

They will choke like they always do in the Tourney eventually so I think this could be our year.Besides Michigan st don’t see anyone that is clearly better than the Cats. May be a wide open year and that could be in our favor
