It is crazy, but honestly we should have known. I put the blue tinted goggles on again and told myself we were getting Wright. It was Caleb Wilson, Dent, and Lamar all over again. It's just obvious at this point Pope can't do this. Maybe this is for the best. If Pope paid his way to a loaded roster that got to an elite 8 / final 4 he gets another what 2 years? Wouldn't mean he's the guy even then though. At least we should only have one more year of this. Hope we crush the next hire though.
Sounds like they will have to wildly overpay him because he is pissed over the Wright situation and being second choice.
Came out earlier that Zoom didn't like how fast the staff pivoted to Wright. He also wasn't blown away on his visit. He's not coming to UK.
I’d move on and overpay for Cruz Davis and move on from this debacle fresh
I was wondering about this (though it looks like his other suitors took other guys over him at his position). It's sad to think about how much we'd have to offer just to get him. I'd honestly rather roll with two cheaper mid-majors and save the NIL for the next coach to work with come next March.

Bull. There was no "fast pivot" , both were scheduled to visit and no doubt knew about each other. Just yesterday many here believed we'd get both. There's your "fast pivot"
KSR+ says right after the Zoom visit, the staff flew down to Atlanta to meet with Wright and schedule a visit.

I read it. They're rewriting history. We all knew both were visiting. Lots of talk about getting both. And in this era of pay for play, no top athletes are getting their feelings hurt over teams continuing to shop the portal. If Zoom was feelings so territorial he should have committed during his visit.

They wanted Zoom to be the 2 guard. That's the pitch they were using with Wright and back when they were recruiting Dedan Thomas. He wasn't fond of that.
Yep I posted that I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t end up at Zona or UK a few days before these insiders did. Zoom would have come here but didn’t get the red carpet rolled out that he expected.
It doesn’t even matter what he decides to me Pope is going to miss on all the game changers and we will be in the same position we were last year. Diallo isn’t a game changer.

I don’t know if you’re right about feelings not getting hurt. Kids aren’t as tough as they used to be. They shouldn’t get their feelings hurt because they’re all constantly talking to players till their roster is full so I get what you mean. Nothing surprises me anymore with this younger generation
That’s disappointing to read. I know you are honest so I hate to see we aren’t getting him. I thought that he would be our point guard when I seen Wright decided to stay at BYU. I don’t understand how it’s even possible for a coach to have such a hard time recruiting here.
We’re hoping for the #9 rated PG in the portal, from a losing team, to get us excited again?

All time wins leader, second most championships and all the NiL money we need isn’t getting us anywhere. Even playing in one of the best Arena’s built for basketball isn’t enough to get who we want to commit. Something bad is wrong and it’s very obvious, all we keep hearing is nothing or so and so turned us down. In the past some of these dudes wouldn’t have even had the chance to turn Kentucky down. It’s disturbing, getting recruits to visit used to go a long way, now they just eat and have a little fun with pictures and hightail it out of here and sign with lesser programs. Lexington, we have a problem!
Pope is now trying to get the guy he tried to get to come in as a co-PG with Dedan Thomas and then put on the backburner for Wright to commit as our starting PG and likely best player. It is really hard to imagine someone being worse at this than Pope is.
Oh yeah, I'm worried too but honestly, I don't think there was any way Stokes was coming and I felt 50-50 that WRIGHT was just using us to get a higher offer from BYU. The only person I feel he may have miss handled right now is Diallo. But let's be honest he knew we were gonna have to Wright as well.
