With his hands, height, and athleticism, he would be an unstoppable TE, IMHO.

Basketball players tend to translate best to TE for some reason. Maybe because TEs score the ball and their routes are a little bit like making cuts in basketball. Not sure, I just know two of the best TEs to ever play in the NFL were converted bball players (Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates).

Also Jimmy Graham. He didn’t try football until he was like 22 years old after his basketball eligibility had expired …yet then went on to become a perennial All Pro and one of the best NFL tight ends of all time.

I disagree on the Barkley comparison, as Barkley had a way better all around game. I think he is just a shorter bulkier version of Giannis. Just not near as good of a defender. He’s going to be a nightmare matchup and will have a great pro career.

Zion is actually WAY ahead of where Barkley was at the same age. Barkley at age 20 was a raw but explosive undersized college center averaging only 10 ppg for a mediocre Auburn team. Whereas Zion at 20 is already putting up All Star caliber numbers in the NBA (27 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 3.7 apg).

And, fwiw, the guy that Zion’s game has always reminded me most of is Larry Johnson. Not sure why everyone always goes straight to Barkley when they’re comparing him (other than the super-explosive fat guy thing).

It was crushing to lose him to Duke. Feels quite alright now looking back. Tell me this isn’t the exact thing Cal talks about with a kid thinking he poops ice cream. Zion is a ****** douche and his family sounds awful. We are watching this case study live. It’s different than LeBron. Zion has been by far the biggest hooper of the social media era, and I’m talking the post 2015 era, where social media seemingly became exponentially more pervasive. From the time he was 16 he was told that he was the greatest human that had ever walked the planet. He was everywhere. Look how much it’s died down with him going to New Orleans. Everyone moved on to the next hottest name on the block, Lamelo Ball. His ego was built up so much over 4 years, it’s gotta be really tough for the guy to have to deal with real life problems.

Different playing styles for sure. Similar in that they are both undersized 4’s with great handles and are explosive. Both are what I call “One of Ones.” Truly unique talents.

Unstoppable ? I don't believe that. The first time one of the Watt brothers rang his bell williamson would take his ball and go home. Don't you know players would not be allowed to hit him. Don't you know he is the greatest human that ever walked the earth. Don't believe it ? Just ask espn

Barkley was strictly a post-player at Auburn. Was shocked how he developed and trimmed down in pros

Zion would be incredible at DE/Edge. So much athleticism/power/speed. He could play RT, but I don't know if he'd have the mental wherewithal to do so. Not saying he's stupid, I just think he's more suited to instinct.

Which is the problem with him as a PF. He can score a lot and make some crazy athletic plays now, but what happens when wear and tear takes it toll? All the greats have had to adjust. Malone and Jordan became fade away jump shooters to preserve their bodies. Reports today are than he broke a foot working out over the summer... big red flag for mobile big guys. You just can't go 110% on every play like that (unless you're Rodman) and not expect it to take it's toll. He's got to have a more consistent jumper, his 3pt% plummeted this year - bad form, tired legs - what do you expect?

Overall, he's special - all star for sure, not generational - but his career will be too short if he can't be effective while conserving energy.

He is playing the right sport, he will make more money in the NBA then in the NFL. I don’t think he wants to be the best of all time, he just wants to be the best Zion and make money for his family. He is smug, but do you blame him, he has a lot of natural talent and you can tell he doesn’t work out and he is a Top 50 player in the world.

If the best argument you can come up with against a 20-year-old already putting up All Star caliber numbers is that he’s not yet an MVP candidate …well, then you should probably stop arguing.

There’s never ever in the history of the sport been an MVP that young, so why would that be a knock against Zion?

I’m all for Duke hate, but Zion is fun to watch and a beast. Still **** Duke for paying him to come there. I have been rooting for him in the NBA.

I'd say Zion's biggest obstacle is his own body, which has already betrayed him a couple times. He's not fat, per se, but he is a very heavy person. His physique and his athleticism reminds me of Charles Barkely, who I posted about a few weeks back. Barkley was able to avoid the injury bug and became a dominant force to be reckoned with, despite being only 6-5 and playing power forward. I think Zion has a similar potential, if he can stay healthy. That's the big concern. I'm having doubts at this point, I must say. And if he's really as lazy as this guy says he is, his conditioning will also betray him.

If you could not see the athletic talent that Barkley had in college at 6' 04" and 290 then you must not know what athletic talent is. Usually only football players that size have that special athletic talent very few if any basketball players at 290 can run that fast or jump that high as Barkley could.
