What is an NIT? I looked for that match up of UK and Robert Morris that I was hearing about on my NCAA bracket that year but literally couldn't find it, so I thought the print out going around my work had an error, because there is no way the most winning basketball program in history, with a HoF caliber coach, with thr most 5 star recruits on a roster in the country, would just decide to skip the NCAA tournament and then I hear this NIT nonsense.... Is that a charity game or something? Why did you guys choose to not play in the NCAA tournament that year? Your team would have probably done awesome!
Trolling aside, I don't understand how so many people can make jokes about flame outs and such and just gloss over the very same things when they happen to UK. Oh well. Good luck on Grimes and Zion and Langford! It is going to be a long wait for those decisions!
Cal has never had a NCAA tournament flameout at UK.
The NIT year, we were coming off of a National Title (perhaps you recall). We were looking like roughly a Sweet Sixteen team before our best player (by far) went down with a season ending injury.
So, quite literally, no Kentucky fan on earth cares about the result of that game.
I'm guessing KU can't say the same about Northern Iowa, etc.
We've also made two more Final Fours since that tough break in 2013. You should try it sometime.
