Dude was put in an impossible position. Probably shouldn't have tried to a 180 with the offense so quickly. Hopefully Beamer is kicking the tires.

Agree. They panicked and did the easiest thing they could do. If it works they’re a genius. If not, move on quickly and conduct a legit search.

They should 100% try to get Mullen back in Starkville.

I'd wager he went into the season k owing he was holding the clipboard for the real hire.

Maybe he could have seized the job, like some interim coaches, but he obviously came up short there.

Arnett would be an upgrade over White, no doubt. His defenses at SDSU were very good. At MSU they were just ok, but some of that is probably a product of Leach's offense. I'd assume he'll have other suitors.

If there is interest on part, Beamer probably can't sit around and wait several more weeks to explore it.

Time will tell. If that were to ever happen, I'm also not worried at all about him flirting with other jobs to get a bigger payday here. Doesn't seem to be his personality. He's been openly vocal about loving it here and this being the only place he wants to coach. As long as we pay him fairly with the market value, I don't see him trying to squeeze us.

He's a human, and will do whatever is necessary to get what he can while he can get it. In this profession tomorrow is not guaranteed. So you better get what you can today. I wouldn't think any less of him if he tried to squeeze us....even though he loves it here.

Nah, just don't see that happening. I'm sure he'll let his agent do his thing, but there's no way Beamer pulls a money grab. It's not his personality or style.

I don't think he's going to go doing interviews or anything like that. But he's not going to stop his agent from creating demand.

He turned down overtures from Oregon, LSU, and Texas to stay at MSU in 2021. He's absolutely going to get interest.
