Hope he heals.
As far as affecting this season-Yawn.

A couple of items:

Should Allen be placed on medical scholarship -- or if players transfer after spring camp as is the norm across the nation -- availability could change.

But that doesn't mean that Rutgers will go that route for a No. 3 quarterback.

"We are going to explore all options," Ash said. "It doesn't mean we are going to necessarily going to go do that route. But we definitely have to go look at all the options that are potentially available."

All ACL injuries require different recovery times between 6-12 months, though 8-10 is common.
----
My take- we will pick up a scholarship QB somewhere.

As far as Bolin goes, he may be able to start here. He started at Lousiville before he was beat out by Jackson and has just as much experience as Gio and more experience than Lewis.

I'm really, really sorry to hear that for Zach Allen's sake - I hope this isn't a career ender for him.

This is terrible for him, as he would have probably gotten some meaningful snaps if he stayed ahead of J. Lewis on the depth chart. There is the aspect that we lost a QB for practices and scout team drills, but next man up. We will have J. Lewis and Rob Nittolo for summer camp.

The people who are projecting this injury to impact the program long term are not the smartest people around.

definitely medical red-shirt him.

If he is a quick healer it is October before he will be game ready and would have missed half the season.

A medical red shirt is good for him:
- as a grad transfer he is working on a masters so with a medical year and a playing year he will be on schollie for the entire masters degree
- he can add a veteran presence to the locker room to help the young QBs
- he can assess if he should stay at QB or move to another position based on need and his desires

sounds like Zach Allen may leave with or without injury..Ash today...

Ash said after Oden’s departure that he wouldn’t explore bringing in a graduate transfer quarterback, but conceded he may have to revisit that in the wake of Allen’s injury.

MORE: Tylin Oden dismissed from program

“We’re going to explore all options,” Ash said. “It doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to go that (grad transfer) route but we have to look at all the options that are potentially available.”

Ash said he’s “not sure which direction Zach will go” in terms of his future with the program.:flushed::bomb:

Sux that he got injured but he's not a good QB who should see the field anyways.

Why did the kid from Elmwood Park transfer out?
He would be 2nd string right now.

Mike Dare was a pro-style QB. While he was either the #14 or #24 recruit in the state and had fabulous HS numbers, some questioned the level of competition he faced in in HS.

I see nothing in Ash's statement that would lead you to believe that. Allen's options referred to by Ash are based on his injury and whether he wants to try to rehab his knee and play this upcoming season or not. No where is there any implication that he was considering leaving before the injury.

Has he redshirted or sat out a year after transfer? Is he a grad transfer?
Is this his first season ending knee injury? If it is then medical redshirt and getting a year isn't an option. Has to be 2nd injury/out for season injury.
