The better your team, the more difficult it is.

The parents are incredulous. OMG. No I'm not keeping the football team in a luxury resort for a tournament in Florida, I don't care if your family can't stay in a place with a kitchen for a week... unless you want to pay for everyone.

I hear I get to concentrate on football when I move up to high school coaching next year. That will be awesome.

Rant over, this is about the only place I can get away with the rant.

Feel your pain. Running a soccer club and coaching travel for several years has given me a poor perception of adults.

This was our first year with travel ball (baseball). We didn't travel very far (only one tournament required an overnight stay). I'd have to say we had a pretty good group of parents....we pretty much rolled with things. However as it has come into fall ball/workouts I can see things changing ever so slightly. There has been little direction as to what is expected this fall with regard to workouts. Most of the parents were okay with keeping the team together in structured workouts - was promised but hasn't really happened. There was miscommunication (some might say deliberate) on what was available to us through WVU with regard to fall workouts and thus as a team we got involved later in the process. What workouts we have had as a team have been okay at best. As the weather grows colder we (parents) asked for an indoor workout - nothing has been put in place that we're aware of. We have lost one coach (and his son) over the whole ordeal as he wanted changes similar to us and none were made.

The shame of it is that all of the parents and kids get together really well and this fall is putting a damper on things. This could have all been avoided with good communication IMO...and the willingness to make some changes.

Same here. Been out of it for several years now. Miss the kids, don't miss the adults
