Some people have a hard time following directions.

THIS. These threads always get messed up by knuckleheads who don't read the rules. In this case:

Here's the twist, you can't include guys who went on to be great or even good pros.

Every poster here who said a name like Issel, Grevey, Mashburn, AD, Patterson, Walker, Hayes, Macy, Bogans, Padgett, Delk, Anderson or Wall has earned time with the dunce cap on his head.

Fwiw, I think the example most exemplifying the OP's criteria may be Goose Givens: a hugely beloved star in college, but a bust who only lasted two seasons in the pros (mainly because he was a 6'4" forward who did not have the ballhandling skills needed to convert to guard).

Goose was an interesting player. A great fit for his era, but not sure he could play at all in today's era. Didn't have guard skills, never showed long range shooting skills (did he ever even attempt a shot from what today would be three range?), but he was a MASTER of rolling off picks and curls to hit those mid-range 8 to 18 foot type shots.

That style of mid-range game was in great demand in 1978, but nobody much cares about it today,

I don't know how anyone could pick just one. UK has just been too blessed with so many great players and great men. A few of mine are:

Jim Master (When I can first remember cheering for the cats as a kid he was my favorite.)
Deron Feldhaus
Gerald Fitch
Derek Anderson
Scott Padgett
WCS
Jeff Shepard
KAT
Tyler Ulis
Ed Davender
AD
De'Aron Fox
Reggie Hanson
Chuck Hayes
Patrick Patterson
Kenny Walker
Tyler Herro
Derek Willis

It may not be a popular post, but Jamal Mashburn was huge in turning the program around after the near death penalty dealt with by the NCAA. Also I don't know how many ex players have made huge donations to the University like Mash did.

Other than that, there have been so many over my lifetime. Big Dan Issel, Kyle Macy, Kevin Grevey, Jack Givens, AD, Teyshaun Prince, Sam Bowie.......Louie Dampier, Pat Riley, Ralph Beard (outside the controversy), Joe B. Hall (for his loyalty to UK over his entire career, especially the hate he endured following Coach Rupp, yet still winning a NC).

And as for the poster about the dunce cap, these players were great at UK, regardless of their later career, so instead you get the dunce cap for making that comment. I'm just talking about players (and the coach) who were tremendous assets to UK when they were here. While some of these may have had either long or illustrious pro careers, I am strictly speaking about their time at UK.

GO CATS
