With so many new players joining the BBN each year it is sometimes hard to feel like you get to know the players enough to gravitate towards a favorite. What constructs do you employ to adopt a current favorite player? Is it where he is from, position played, looks, effort or something less tangible? I know this could be a lame thread but I am interested in what causes you to choose.

Current favorite is AP. He's from Clarksville, he's smart and is a total beast at times. I also like that he seems to be completely humble.

Whoever plays the hardest, with the most energy, consistently. Mistakes don't bother me, laziness does.

I love transition play. It's the most fun to watch, and the most demoralizing for opponents. Pacesetters are usually fan favorites, which is why a lot of people fall in love with guys like Ulis and MKG.

I really like Shep and the way he overcame Tubby's presence to lead the '98 squad to the NCAA Championship. And I really, really liked MKG's get-it-done leadership, even though he was a freshman.

But I've been a Cotton Nash man since 1962. He was a three-time All-American with very little help around him on any of his teams. [Cotton had only Larry Pursiful with him (First-team All-SEC) in '62. He had no help in '63. Had only Ted Deeken (First-team All-SEC) and Larry Conley (as a sophomore) with him in '64.] Cotton is No. 9 on U.K.'s career scoring list (4th among those playing only 3 seasons, behind Issel, Mashburn, and Grevey). He's No. 5 on U.K.'s career rebounding list, with about 12.5 RPG for 3 seasons. Cotton is still my favorite 'Cat.

Ulis because he is so tough on defense, this season gotta wait and see them play then I'll tell ya :popcorn:

For me it's all about energy and effort. That's what I want to see from a player. They make plays and they give 100%.

I really like Ulis for this reason. He is always giving his all our there. I think I'll like several of these incoming players for the same reasons.

From the present team, I would go with Ulis and all time I like Cotton Nash.

Present team, definitely Murray. My all time favorite Wildcats were James Lee and Anthony Davis.

That was so ridiculous! "What's he doin' to Wojo?" Anyone with eyes can see that Wojo was just sprawled out trying to be as dramatic and ridiculous as possible. Magloire definitely grabbed him at first but the rest of that was fake- and it wasn't even very good acting. No Oscar for you, Wojo!

I mentioned above that I really like Ulis on the current team. I'll have to get a look at this new group of guys to know how they'll rate, but I think I'm gonna like Murray. I hope I really like Skal. And I also hope Poythress makes me love him. That will mean the team is likely having a great season. But if we're talking all-time players, I loved Kyle Macy (though I was just a kid). He was the guy I was pretending to be as I shot hoops on our driveway. I also loved the way Kenny Walker played the game. Into the 90s, give me some Mashburn, Delk, and Derek Anderson. Into the 2000s, give me Tayshaun Prince, Chuck Hayes, Gerald Fitch, and I loved the way Cliff Hawkins played defense. In the Calipari era, there are many more.
