We have the youngest team in the B1G, but yet here we are at 6-2. Are our fans this delusional that they don't expect there to be growing pains? I've been pleasantly surprised that a team this young has found ways to win. In Rhules 3rd season and having the youngest team in the B1G, we have our best record through 8 games since 2016. You would think reading this board we were on our way to another 4 win season. Enjoy the ride boys and expect some bone head plays. This program is trending in the right direction. I beleive there will be some position coaching changes at years end. Rhule has shown he is willing to adapt. Keep the faith and GBR!!

Most anything looks good when you compare it against one of the worst football programs in CFB since 2016.

If Nebraska wins out I’ll proudly call myself a ***** for whining. I’ll personally apologize to the team mom. I’ll be redscarlet 2.0 and buy season tickets and tug on the back of fans shirts for standing up in front of me while I eat crackerjacks

Last week was inexcusable. No thanks now pull off a night win next week against the Trojans I will back in the train. Isn’t the oline one of the most veteran position groups and they just get man handled?
I mean, I don't know about you but I hope you weren't expecting to go into Minnesota dominating them on a short week, while coming back from an east coast trip. That Minny game had all the signs of a let down week. That's not even taking into account the off the field stuff with HCMR going to Penn St. I for one was not suprised in the let down week. Good to see the team bounce back this week, especially when things weren't going their way. Have you not at least enjoyed the season a little bit? If someone told you we would start 6-2 this year would you think you and out fans would complain this much? Hopefully you can recognize the progress bring made and enjoy theses last few weeks. Husker season is almost over, I would hate for you not to enjoy at all...

^^ All of this is true. We were non competitive last week against Minnesota who is getting destroyed right now by Iowa.

I give us a 2% chance of beating USC but if by some miracle that happens, I will also be on board.

Oh yeah, the O-line was supposed to be a strength on this team this year 😂 😂

I didn’t say anything about dominating. They weren’t even remotely competitive. Didn’t even look like they belong. Inexcusable.

It's going to happen when you're building a team. They are 6-2 man, try to find something to cheer about. It's going to get better. You can see it year to year. The progress is there, keep the faith. The games are much more enjoyable when you finally realize the progress this team is making. I fully believe Rhule will let Raiola go after the season. It definitely isn't a good idea/look to fire a coach midseason when your team is 6-2.

That's football my guy. That's why you line them up every week. Last week Iowa barely squeaked out a win against the sinking ship that is Penn St.

lol. I can only imagine the gem the moron posted. Just put him on ignore. He brings literally nothing of value to any discussion here. Unless you want to hear a grown *** man whine about sports outfits, and play board hall monitor. Careful or he will report you

Being the youngest team in your conference(which I question since we had 14 seniors on the 2 deep today), in today's game, probably means you didnt address your needs in the NIL portal.

In our case its a combination of that, and coaching changes on the Defensive side of the ball.

What it also means for next year, in the portal era, is jack squat.

Guthrie, Jones and Shavers were the top 3 tacklers. Lot of youngsters playing on defense. In addition to the three above, RVP, Davis, Nwaneri, Moore, and Merritt are all getting at least rotational reps. All have 2 or more years left after this one.

In an era of NIL and Transfers being a young team isn't something to be proud of...anybody we develop this year will likely transfer and the fact we don't have better depth is a coaching issue. We have lost games because backups were terrible. Now if freshman were scoring touchdowns and were all up and paid already then it would be decent, although it wouldn't shield us from transfers or somebody paying them more. It also speaks to Rhule's terrible recruiting two years ago, that we don't have anybody decent in that class.

The finger-waggers must not have a lot of confidence in the rest of the schedule. They’ve moved on from, “Don’t you big meanies know that Year 3 is when the magic happens?” to scolding people for expecting too much from a young team.

Last week I was pissed that they didnt show up. Seeing Rhule pissed in his PC was a good sign he is serious about winning. I was pissed again today when they gave up another big lead.Getting that killer instinct still a work in progress. That being said there is progress in several areas. Minnesota aside this team hasnt quit. They keep brawling and win games that a few years ago would have been losses.Special teams looking good is huge.

Killer instinct isn’t really something that’s taught, IMO. It’s one of those X factors, either you have it or you don’t. But I do agree on everything else. The progress is very evident.

Back when Nebraska was a proper football team, in the 80s and 90s, the upperclassman consistently passed down a standard of toughness and ferocity. It was non-negotiable. You didn’t dare let your teammates down.

No it does not. That was my point with OP trying to use the youngest team slant for an excuse
It’s not exactly an excuse. Teams with veteran players will always outplay youth assuming talent is equal. Factor in experience too

The 2 deep isn’t really all that young though. And a lot of them have a lot of experience. Just not being developed well

Although what you say is likely true (I ain’t looking it up) with the transfer portal and NIL money, being a young team doesn’t mean jack squat.

That's not true at all. We needed a big time DEvand went out and got a rs freshman out of the portal. Not everyone in the portal is a senior...

What having the youngest team in the B1G does mean, is your building a culture within your program. If you're using the portal to just rebuild a new team every year, you're doing it wrong. The portal should be used to fill holes not rebrand your team year in and year out.

If you are starting young guys, you are probably doing it wrong.

Young guys start/play at poverty programs and then programs with money come in and get them.

There is just not really a reason to be starting/playing a bunch of young guys anymore.

You think RSFr from other rosters are culture builders? That is your argument? Lol OK

Look man, we get it. We have exciting young talent on the team. If we keep it around, we will more than likely reap the benefits of it.....but we are in year 3 and our RB room is completely in shambles. Our DL is TOO young, that we have no ability to stop the run and rush the passer. To their credit, they play HARD, and they have high upside, but there is no excuse to not have any formidable players ready when you had Nash and Ty holding things down for 3 years, giving you multiple classes to address it....Then there is the OL. Inexcusable. We have double digit 3rd year players who havent even played a snap yet. We have nationaly notable returning starts. They cant even get their calls in right.

My point being, is stockpiling talent doesnt mean **** if they transfer(RB and DL) or their coach doesnt develop them(OL).

And your RSFr, transfer culture builder comment is just comical

Actually, Ty was still developing 3 years ago and Nash didn’t play much. Their emergence happened under White in Rhule’s first year. Since arriving, Rhule added Cam L, RVP, Jeudy, Davis, Nwaneri, George Moore and Pietrzak.

I actually agree with a lot of this. But if there isn't a couple position coach changed im afraid our ceiling is about what we will have 7/8 wins. One of those will be very tricky but if winning at the highest level is truly the goal it needs to be made.

That OL is gonna be the death of us if it isn't corrected. Rhule made a couple tough "changes" last year and if he want to win like he says he does he will have to make a couple more..

I Hope Teddy P isn't injured to bad but watching him go down yesterday and the play itself kinda illustrates how dire our OL situation is. That kid actually started for us at the beginning of the year when everyone was healthy. Go watch that play again and then understand how bad we have to be on the OL for that to happen.

No Way u can dismiss that minny loss. It was horrible regardless of circumstances. That said I agree with much of what u say. I'm just riding the wave trying not to get too high or low after a win/loss. This isn't a finished product.

This will tell me what I need to know about how serious we are about winning. It needs to happen. Only good thing I can see coming out of this now is that we will be Forced to run more because we can't protect against most teams. Which we probably should've been doing anyways.

Half of the "Free" board are closet Hawkeye fans stirring the pot. I'm guessing the pay board doesn't have as many jackass posts as this one does
