think he is going to be the guy who will either get us over huno or not

There just, in the season, aren’t many games left that carter,
Mathis, Mulchay, macconnell or Johnson are hitting double digits

Right now ...only three guys look like they are capable of double digits ...geo, Ron and yeboah

Jacob is the fourth...possibly. And he can create. And damn if, you know he is a better three point shooter than he has shown.

If he can get us double digits a night from here on out....our chance at 70 goes way up and better chance to win these last couple of game ...and that means making the ncaa tountmsnt

That can only happen if Steve leaves him in the game when he's doing well. The moment I saw him getting subbed out in the 2nd I knew we were doomed. Steve checks in Paul, McConnell, and Doucoure: our 3 slowest guys. It's like the game was getting too fast for Steve. He was looking left and looking right and couldn't keep up. He said enough of this helter skelter running up and down the court. We're down 5 now. We can go back to normal again.

You know Joe Boylan said the same thing on the radio about going back to a normal game now. And im like WTF RU talking about. Keep ball hawking and running!

Young has turned out so much better than he ever appeared he would be from the first 5 or so games. Kudos to him and for Pike with sticking with him.
Remember watching him scrimmaging pre-season with his teammates. He was far and away the best player on the court. Just didn't know if there were enough basketballs on the court. Personally, I don't think Pike has taken full advantage of the things he brings to the floor. He can get to the rim. his defense on the ball drives opposing guards crazy, and he's fast as sh&t. That all adds to a lot more minutes IMO. I think Pike needs to encourage the kid to keep shooting the three whether he hits it or not. He needs that encouragement to be the three point shooter he was when he got here. In his case I think it is all about confidence.

You bring up the great point about the offense and the offensive flow. Others have posted we do not run offensive sets, pin downs , curls to get our guys shots , etc. but I watch a ton of college basketball every night from every conference , and everybody runs similar stuff, high ball screen , high horn sets, and I would say about 80 % of the teams struggle running half court offense. We happen to have a bunch of teams in the Big 10 that run more pin downs and curls , with high level motion , that have shooters that knock down shots and it makes the offense effective and efficient. Duke runs little offense other than high ball screens , pick and roll , guards break down , dribble drive and kick to 3 point shooters. Kentucky the same. Kansas similar but run more curls.
After watching our comebacks , it appears we do have the skill set to run up tempo , where Geo and Jacob really shine. I think our comebacks by up tempo , show Pike that transition defense , probably his fear , will not suffer . In fact, it seems to energize our guys, creates more steals, gets us in the passing lanes , and gets the players to stick to 3 point shooters. Jacob has always been able to break down guys but he is now doing so and not looking to shoot first but pass first and his dimes to Shaq or Myles or anyone have gone up in the up tempo. Because of the incredibly slow starts on the road , Pike really has to let the team go up tempo in the first half to get our offense doing what it does best but at the same time energizing our defense to stick with the 3 point shooters. It is time. Enough time to make this season memorable and get to the tourney and win a game or two.
