Never seen a player been called for that as much as he has. He’s gotta fix that.

In the last game, thought one of the two might have been questionable... in this game it was pretty clear cut, though. I think he gets a bit ahead of himself sometimes moving too fast, and tries to go one way before deciding to change direction... all in mid-dribble while the ball is in his hand. He definitely felt a bit like he was rushing too much last night - couple dribbles off his leg/foot, the palming, etc.

The old Jacob was out in full force last night. Conversely he passed up a couple of open 3’s that I wish he had taken

It’s complete ********. Ever since Allen Iverson stepped foot on a college basketball floor that has not been called. He use freaking start with the ball on top of his hand and flip it all the way over and not get called. The fact that it’s getting called on Young is disgraceful and absurd. It’s only because little Pitino got on the officials about it and now other big 10 coaches are trying to pull the same thing.

He needs to watch film of Zavier Simpson of Michigan. Simpson constantly has his hand on the side and lower half of the ball and does not get whistled, even though it gives Simpson an advantage over his defender.

He does it more than just the one's he's flagged for.

right...and so do 85% of bball players today

those calls are complete horseshit

if you're going to call that call even ONCE in a game...you need to call it 10 more times...at a minimum.

as a ref, you can't pick and chose when to enforce the rules

3 times in a season is a fkng joke...

2 of the 3 that were called on Young were pretty egregious, imo, even when compared to other guards. He starts moving the ball one way, the defender reacts, and then he pushes the ball a different way before releasing it to the floor. It's not just having his hand under or to the side of the ball.

Still, it's rarely called even in egregious cases, so he probably probably won't be called for it much going forward even if he just keeps doing what he's doing.

It's much more commonly called when used in conjunction with a hesitation, very rarely in other situations. Must watch it.

I see tons of guys across the country who palm the ball every time they bring it up court and don’t get called for it. It is like fouls or holding in football. They could call it every two seconds if they wanted to.
The officials aren’t going to call it if you’re bringing the ball past half court. But if you’re driving and palm the ball to get into the lane they will call it.

BS - they never call it. letter of the law/rule, almost every player does this while driving

can't pick and choose when to enforce the rule.

Isn't it basically the same as a travelling call? So if you're taking extra steps without a dribble, the refs will call it. I'm going to assume the refs are justified in calling it on Young, especially since I didn't see any of the coaches asking for an explanation. I'm sure Young and the coaches will be working on it with him in practice.
