Idt it mattered what defense we played tonight fellas. One team showed up to play the other team is hitting F5 on NBA mock drafts to make sure they aren't falling too hard.

True Rupp but still frustrating to watch one side spread the floor and work the other hitting 14 threes against their man defense without any adjustments (aside for one three minute token change where they hit only one three). The same thing n the offensive end. Watch us struggle badly on offense without spreading the floor & still trying to run the same frustrating clogge d up sets.

Why would you zone a team that shoots 30 3s a game?
Because you are a long team and a zone is going to cause less penetration and you can close out with your size. Syracuse had lived a long life with less talented players playing a zone with length. If you can't stay in front of your man you are going to get an even more wide open three .

Cal doesn't even teach zone its not magically going to work in the middle of a slaughter.

As seen in second half Zone did worked best

Coach Hardhead goes back man to man and is abused

He must only use his eyes to coach. Can't believe there's not someone in his ear letting him
Alabama had wide open looks out of our zone. Wide open. Wide open. Wide open. Just wanted that to be clear. If we kept playing zone we would have lost by 40. There is a reason why he went back to man to man.

Not a good game. Really disappointing...

They had one good look, another contested look, a foul inside that game Bama a layup, and they gave up an offensive board layup. That is it. Bama turned the ball over 3-4 times against it in about five minutes.

Now, against man defense, they had whatever look they wanted.

There are other kinds of zones besides 2-3. They can work against shooters.

The thing is our size is not going to let us play man like we want to. At least in pack line you would discourage the drive and kick. We like to stand outside the three point line and let kids penetrate and kick for a wide open three. You can't get spread out with a team that is giving up speed at about every spot.

I agree with you. Cal isn't changing his Defense or offense mind set this late in his career though. It is what it is.

Well, the one thing our man defense did accomplish was to allow Jackson to get 8 blocks.

No you simpleton Alabama scored at a much much lower rate against the zone did you watch the game

I believe they hit one three against the zone over a 10 minute period

Because all of their 3s come off penetration and pitch
People that never wore a jock strap cannot figure this out
The 3’s are off dribble penetration and kick
No way we should have ever played man after it was clear we couldn’t stay in front
He’s clueless has no adjustment he’s done

Man I agree....some people can't see discernable facts along with their opinion.

- Bama scored 85 points which is alot for this team to score and win. This team has keep foes in the no higher than 70's and preferably 60's to win with our scoring talent. So obviously our defense was a bigger reason or the loss.
- Bama hit 14-30 from 3pt land for 46% which is a great efficient shooting and a pretty big volume of shots taken. And a good percentage of those makes where pretty open looks and not with dudes all over them..

To the opinion part of discussion:
- Askew really struggles to stay in front of PG and he struggled mighty with Shackelford as did all other guards on him.
- Boston was abused by Petty as well off the wing..

But listening to Cal postgame...it's the same old baloney. "We didn't fight for balls", "we didn't bring the fight", "didnt' execute the gameplan to feed Sarr", "burn the tape and we move on to next game" ,etc... Whatever, he could care less about the s$%t show for the 20201 season.
