They haven't played anyone with an offense or defense as good as ours.

Maybe more disciplined

We are getting more than 2 touchdowns.
If people think we are going to win outright - keeping it within 2 TDs seems like a lock.

We could have some kickass facilities if every husker fan would drop a dime on Nebraska at least covering.

Anything is possible that's why games are played. Looking at it logically and from an xs and os standpoint. It is going to be very tough. Basically we have to play perfect, mistake free football and they need to have one of their worst games. Plus I have a feeling many on the team are fighting injuries this week, however minor. We need everyone healthy and at their best, I don't think that is going to be possible.
This game may be a situation where we need to slow the game down, skip the up tempo mentality and give ourselves a shot to hang around. If we can hand around until the 4th and build confidence in our guys and put doubt in theirs we could have a legit show to win it in the 4th. If we do tempo have a few 3 and outs and let them build a big lead early, it could be ball game quickly.

Would be nice if we could get in two to three more games before this one; I feel like we keep figuring it out a little more each week on O. Who knows, maybe we go +3 on turnovers this week and make a go of it.

Keeping it within 2 touchdowns is a lock? I think im more optimistic than the average husker, but this is stretch to say the least.

I didn't say it was a lock
I said IF one truly believes we are going to win outright THEN keeping it within 2 scores seems like a lock

I don't think we will win

If OSU gives up 4 turnovers and we score 21 points off them like Illinois did to us, and OSU has stupid penalties that kills drives, like NU constantly seems to do, then yes there is a chance to keep it close. However, based on what has transpired so far, I imagine OSU will win rather handily.

Gotcha, but is there anybody out there that believes we ARE going to win? I am of the opinion that we COULD win, but like the battered housewife that I am I cant get my hopes up.

On every message board there is always somebody who thinks their team is going to win a game they have almost zero chance of winning, this week it's your turn to be that guy....and why not? What's the worst that will happen? Plus, if it does come to fruition, you can live on it the rest of the season, so I salute you sir!!! May the force be with you and your prediction!!

They only lost by five in Columbus last year. But to even have a shot at winning, they are going to have to play a much cleaner game than I have seen from this team. Ten penalties and four turnovers isn't going to keep the score within 50 against Ohio The State.

The dynamics entering the game are a bit different this year. We may have garnered more of their attention ahead of the game being 3-1 with the game in Lincoln versus being 2-6 heading into Columbus last year

While I agree, but they have smoked everyone in their path. Indiana has given them trouble in the past and that was a beat down. I hope we can keep ourselves in it because the crowd can help if they have a reason to keep that atmosphere rockin.

I wish we were playing them slightly later in the year.

It was Oct. 20, 2018 when Purdue boat-raced OSU 49-20; we played them a week later and pushed them to the end before OSU came out of its October/early November funk against Michigan.
It was Nov. 4, 2017 when Iowa dominated the Bucks 55-24, and it came between big games against ranked division rivals Penn State and Michigan.
Heck, even in 2016, when OSU's only big loss (31-0 to Clemson) came in the playoffs, they struggled in October, beating Wisconsin in OT, losing to PSU and squeezing by Northwestern on Oct. 15, 22 and 29.

TLDR version:
Ohio State recently has experienced a dip in its seasons, but that usually doesn't come until October/November.

Here is my prediction for the game. As if anyone gives a crap what I think. But here it is:

55-13. Bad guys.

OSU appears to have a powerful defense to go with that offense. Add in our penchant for turnovers and penalties... well, you get the picture. We also don’t have a kicker.

I just hope AMart comes out of this game healthy. I suspect he will get sacked five or six times.

I just don’t see how anyone really thinks we could win this game. Sure, it’s college football and crazy things happen, but our chance has to be in the 1% or less range. Our team is just too young and inexperienced. After what we’ve seen so far, I’m afraid it will be a boat race.

56-21 bad guys.

Offensively I think Nebraska is the best team we will have faced so far but defensively the best we've went up against is Cincy or Indiana.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. I hope they sit some of our important players when the game gets out of hand. Losing AM, WR, or MW to injury in a blowout would be awful.

Oh it is better than that. Every simulator/ computer model I have seen gives us about a 20% chance. Still bad no doubt, but not horrible all things considered. I agree it will take a miracle to pull out a win. The team will have to play as close to perfect football as possible. While Ohio St will need to have one of their worst games of the year. I too see the score in the 50s - 20s range.

That’s a better chance than I thought it would be. Our team has yet to put together a complete game where everyone is just in sync. If they do, they could be very good. Let’s hope we are all wrong. Win or lose, I will still support this team and coach Frost.

We were a worse team last year and hung with them at their house.

I say we keep it close and lose 41-31
They are substantially better this year, I believe.

I think they are hitting on all cylinders right now, and my worry is that even if we play a clean game, relatively speaking, with minimal penalties and 1 TO at most, we still could easily lose by 3 scores. Hope I’m wrong, but this optimist just doesn’t see it going well for us.

If they had Haskins still I would give us a shot because he was not mobile. Fields is a different animal and will give our defense fits. I see OSU 45 UNL 20

Agree, they have yet to score less than 45. While allowing their opp to score and average of 9 ppg. Our opponents have scored an average 25 ppg against us. If our offense has another sluggish start like last week we could easily be down 3 td before the 1st quarter is over.

You can be stone cold sober and still believe we CAN win. I don't think it's that big of a stretch, but it all depends on how we start. We can't continually be 3rd and long and hope to stay in it. I sure hope that Washington can play. Bigger upsets happen every year.

The problem was NU hung with OSU last year; meaning NU will not be overlooked.

NU needs to get a lot better to win this game. They got better as the year went along last year, so maybe there will be an exponential jump for NU in week 5 this year.

But still, A LOT has to break NU’s way to pull the upset this weekend.

The computer sim program I ran gives Ohio St a 82% chance to win. I ran it for the rest of their schedule as well

63% fav vs Mich St
46% vs Wisc
58% vs Maryland
62% vs Penn St
84% vs NW
84% vs Rutgers
54% vs Michigan (mich has big time issues, so this doesn't seem right as of now. Probably should be in that 60-70% range)

So basically it thinks we are the same quality as NW and Rutgers. lol Ouch.

This will be justin fields 1st game against a legit away game crowd for ohio state. Their only away game has been against IU (does that really count?) Think JoJo or Lamar hits him hard early in the game causing a TO & gets him rattled.
