Did anyone watch his postgame presser?!?! I hate that I like so many of these other B1G head coaches but the fact is I do. A lot of that is a credit to Pike... they all seem to really like him and why wouldn't they? He's such a good dude. But Collins spent most of the presser throwing genuine praise at Pike and RU. And it wasn't coachspeak. You can spot coachspeak a mile away. Collins was simply gracious in loss, much like the Penn State HC (Pat what's his name, blanking on his name), who also seems like a great dude. Heck even Richie P. seemed genuine. Hoiberg too! WTF.

I dunno, seems wrong to like so many of them. Yuck. And sorry, don't have a link handy, watched it on DVR.

Agree. He was gracious in his remarks and a couple of times gave unsolicited praise to Pike and the program he's building. A class act.

If fans recall, Year 1 of Pike was Eugene's 1st year, we had Nigel Johnson, Corey Sanders and played at NW.....NW was on the magic carpet ride and Northwestern alumni, Mike Greenberg (Mike and Mike), was in attendance.....if NWESTERN had lost 3 years ago to RU at home, the NCAAS may have died for NW....RU led a lot of the game, NW played very tight, but eventually got out of dodge.

Tonight, the roles were reversed....RU was last 3 years ago at NW.....now NW is last and almost dashed RUs lofty goals.

Collins was very complimentary of Pike 3 years ago and I believe most if not all of the B1G have a corporate mentality of being team-oriented.

A common theme I've heard from several opposing coaches now is how Steve has done it "the right way".

I'm not quite sure how to take that statement. It's clear that our players are mostly underrecruited and Steve has gotten them to buy into his philosophy on defensive and rebounding toughness. But is there more behind the scenes regarding the ethics of recruiting they are implying? Or am I just reading too much into their coach-speak?

No I think you are on the right road 90 that more than a few coaches look to take "shortcuts" and some of those shortcuts literally violate NCAA rules. Yes, a few Big Ten coaches have said those exact words, "the right way."

If you recall, at the end of that 2017 game at NW, on the handshake line Collins to Sanders and Johnson aside and spoke to them for what seemed to be close to 2 minutes. Obvious he was being very encouraging to them after such a tough loss.

Chris Collins is a good guy who has built his program the right way and did things nobody has ever done at NW. They have an exceptionally young team that has been decimated by injuries and they will be better in the years to come. Really respect the man.

I saw the presser. I didn't like him as a Duke player but I do as a coach. You can see he's a good guy.

Pike has built a lot of respect around this league. He's a damn good coach.
