So if the open mic session with Stai is true and Yant and Manning are habitually threatening to quit and MJ needs to straighten them out, why did they play Saturday? Yant had four carries and Manning had a ball thrown his way. Sounds to me like some of the open mic stuff might be fake news.

MAYBE they were doing that because of the old coach who is gone now and they played because maybe they can help us

they played for the same reason all the other inconsequential backups played

game was over at halftime, season was over Week 0

There was a brief clip during the game where it appeared Yant and Joseph were having a heated exchange. The cameras quickly panned away.

it may have just been Joseph hyping him up - as Yant played later in the game

I think that was the other zero (get it?) on the team, Tommi Hill

well Allen was out with an injury. No sense in getting Grant hurt in a blowout. Ervin is coming off a major knee surgery. About the only other option was Johnson who I've heard is injured as well.

No, those guys said on the hot mic could be true AND they could still play because they're still good football players who can help Neb. win games and they're still wearing a Nebraska uniform

Cut him loose Mickey. Neither will be missed.

Yant has talent, but prob a bigger problem than he's worth. Same might be said of Manning.

Grant will likely go pro after this year..

I hope that Allen and Erving Jr would stay, but that RB room could easily fall apart after this season is over.

If I coached the NU team, I would allow a player to quit one time.

Maybe academics, or just needing to adjust his attitude, homesick, etc.
Give the kid a chance to rejoin the team.

If they quit a second time, good bye. No exceptions.

Pretty clear that it’s how both of these jokers roll.

86 ‘em both and don’t look back.
Mickey and the coaches have plenty to be concerned with finding enough good players that want to play, than worry about a couple of kids who can't decide if they want to play or not.

Wandale and Spielman left. Betts quit. Manning and Yant look the part yet don't play. Our O-line reaks! Defense is porous. I don't know if we can continue to tell kids to buck up. Maaaybeee, there's a bigger problem. It seems like 4-stars either leave or don't develop. Benhart, Corcoran, Ty Robinson have all underwhelmed.

I go back and forth on the next coach, but I thought Nate gave a very thoughtful perspective on Leipold. He's built every team he's coached to a proven winner. O'Brien did that with PSU and performed well in the NFL with what he had. But is he long-term? Do we need it. Not sold on Rhule, never beat a ranked team at Baylor and hasn't been nearly as successful as O'Brien was in the NFL.

It's all very confusing.
