Bardo called it last game against NW when the refs were missing repeated calls. Pike needs to get T’d up once in a while or at a minimum get in the refs ears more. Every other coach does it. OSU did it to the point that Wesson didn’t get a single foul called on him.

One other thing is we have no inbound plays!!

yes...this is sort of lost tonight but we had a couple of possession where the ball was knocked out of bounds and we had just 3-4 second and we are truly lost...throwing to the perimeter for a shot clock violation

I am also seeing a struggle inbounding the ball with Harper on just regular inbouding plays with not a shot clock worry

so as we get better and we applaud the play of the team, I also will be looking at the things that need to be cleaned up

free throws, first half turnovers and inbounding are the leading things to fix

McConnell runs into an illegal pick! How about I the first half on a rebound the Iowa player sends McConnell flying out of bounds and there is no call

Great point on both of those plays.

McConnell was literally pushed out of bounds from behind.
No call, and Iowa scores 2.

Total ********.

This almost cost us the Northwestern game

Back from the game and calmed down enough to look at the boards. The refs sucked. But they sucked for both teams. The fouls called on both teams were about equal in number, although I agree with the obviously lousy calls against us. I think any ref who is less than 5ft. 6 inches tall should not be allowed to call goal tending from beyond the foul line. But putting the refereeing aside, Rutgers had a great game plan on both sides of the ball and executed well enough to have won the game. The RAC was full and rockin'. But it was not to be. The only game I can remember that can compare to this ending was losing on a full court pass to the opposing center with one second left and him dunking to beat us by one point (I think it was against GW?). At least this was good for my diet. Too sick to eat after the game.

Most unreal call of the game. You review it and say it was a common foul? He “accidentally” grabbed his arm going for the ball that was 10 feet away !?? And how do you even call that in the first place !! The fix was in

Rutgers got away with a much more egregious flagrant foul when one of the Rutgers post players (I believe Johnson) elbowed an Iowa player in the face. The officials reviewed it, and it was clearly not a basketball play, and clearly WAS excessive and unnecessary contact- yet no flagrant foul. A much, much worse blown call than the one you are complaining about.

No team from any school in any sport in the history of the universe faces worse officiating on a consistent basis home or away than Rutgers. We have to beat the opponent and the zebras to ever win a game.
So true

So if a team is poor in a statistic that makes it a free for all and the refs can call whatever they want? I’m sorry but did you graduate from Iowa with that brain of yours ?
Sorry to disappoint you, but I bought my brain at Rutgers College. Yeah, College. Look it up.

Shooting free throws adequately, say 70%, should be a reasonable ability for a B1G roster. You know, like many high school teams. If you want a winning program, you need to focus on the things that you can control, like free throws, and not things you can’t control, like terrible refs.

I can excuse the goaltending call as it was real time and relatively close even on replay. The non-intentional however was the difference in the game. How do you watch the replay and say that wasn't intentional?

But as a ref, you don’t blow your whistle unless you are sure. That little ref, who killed us the last 12 minutes, WAS NOT IN POSITION to make that call. The other ref that was in position made the right call by NOT blowing his whistle. It wasn’t the little refs call to make. His call sucked on multiple levels.

Refs did not make RU miss 8 of 18 free throws. The fans of a team that shoots 55% from the line can’t complain about the refs costing their team a win.

What?!?! One has NOTHING to do with the other. Please think before you post.

Number 51 on Iowa absolutely obliterated McConnell and then another Knight who had defensive rebounding position later in the second half. No call on both.

I've thought the same on occasion. But last night was not the right time to make that statement and thus Pikes showed restraint. With the margins so thin due to poor foul shooting, a technical could have been difference in the game. Imagine the outcry if it was.

Refs ABSOLUTELY cost us the game. The intentional non call, the Johnson put back, Mc Connell being driven out of bounds, Mathis was belted on two diffferent lay ups-- no calls, Doorson going up for a shot was banged by three guys--no call & the beat goes on. Hobbs & Pike need to raise holy hell.

Can’t post it but ball was still partially above the cylinder when he tapped it in, so the call was technically correct

I don’t know about that. They showed the replay in game about 10x and it was definitely not above the cylinder. Both Fox announcers concurred that is was a poor call.

Caleb not the strongest getting himself open on the inbounds. Issa was trying to get the ball to him and was painful.

Incorrect. The key word is "entirely" and "directly above it". The rel must of thought the ball we still on the rim and truthfully he was so far away he might not have seen that it was off the rim. Should be able to review.

In basketball, goaltending is the violation of interfering with the ball while it is on its way to the basket and it is (a) in a downward flight, (b) entirely above the rim and has the possibility of entering the basket, and (c) not touching the rim

Goaltending is commonly confused with the related violation of basket interference (also called offensive goaltending) which occurs during an attempted field goal when a player touches the basket, the rim, or the ball when it is on the rim or directly above it.
