Not at all. When we hired Leach, the Tech fans were really cool coming to our board and telling us what to expect.

Figured if Leach ever left, I'd try to do the same.

Will be fun to have an SEC team to follow and root for.

Were the TEch fans incredibly pissed at their administration at the time (as they should have been), or had they bought into the delusion that Leach was holding Tech back from consistent 10 win seasons?

Two things that are indispensable: (1) very thick skin; and (2) exceptionally well-advanced sarcasm detector. Welcome. And good luck.

Generally speaking, most state fans are contemporaneously excited by this hire and scared shitless that his system is going to get destroyed by quality sec defenses.

AL and LSU have shown recently that there is no big issue with throwing on SEC defenses. What I think most MSU fans are scared of is whether or not we can gather the needed personnel to efficiently throw the ball a majority of the time on any good defense. That is something most of us have never seen at MSU. Closest thing recently might have been Dak's SR year where we were more pass heavy but that still wasn't close to what we see under Leach.

Pretty tight ship. 3 Cardinal rules. Don't steal, don't hit a woman, no pot. He will boot guys, no warnings

Your guys will make grades and mostly stay out of the police blotter.

This is legitimately the scariest thing I've heard about Leach. If that's a philosophy of "we make passing drug tests easy enough, you pissing hot is a sign that you are completely out of control and/or don't give a **** about your teammates, so you're gone", that's probably great. Or maybe we only piss test Wednesday through Saturday, so that means basically Saturday night is the players night to do whatever, and other than that they have to be focused. Otherwise...

He did go to BYU. Not sure if he's mormon or not.

I was told he was mormon (they person telling me that may have been assuming he was mormon b/c he went to BYU though). Guessing from teh way he dips, drinks, and curses that he's not too devout.

They were mostly supportive of Leach and irritated at their admin for running him off.

And yes, CJK5H. Lol. If you go to one of Leach's book signings, he'll sign it that way if you ask.

One of the best threads I have had the privilege of reading. Thanks, Fab5coug.
On another note, isn’t pot legal in Washington?

It is. To be honest, I don't know if Leach has lessened his stance on that since that law was passed.

He booted a couple guys early for pot and stealing, and that was kind of the last we heard about his rules cause no one messed around with it after that.

He did have an issue one off season with some of the Poly players get drunk and getting into fights, but that was mostly just a game or two suspension type stuff.

Looking at the 2011 vs 2012 stats at Washington State in this thread it looks like the WSU passing numbers actually took perhaps a small step back in Leach's first year there. Can you offer any thoughts about that transition?

https://forums.sixpackspeak.com/sho...ograms-before-and-after&p=1722177#post1722177

Or if you don't want to bother with the entire thread, here's what I pulled on the transition years:

Washington State 2011 - Before Leach
Five different guys threw passes for 3,867 total yards. Combined for 30 TDs and 12 INTs and a 60.5 completion percentage.
Top QB was 208-341 for 2,584 yards, 19 TDs and 8 INTs

Five players caught 28 or more passes.
Top receiver, Marquess Wilson, caught 82 passes for 1,388 yards and 12 TDs

Washington State 2012 - With Leach
Two different QBs combined for 3,965 yards with 23 TDs and 21 INTs with a 58.2 completion percentage
Jeff Tuel was 211-332 for 2,987 yards, 8 TDs and 8 INTs
Connor Halliday was 152-291 for 1,878 yards, 15 TDs and 13 INTs.

Seven players caught 30 or more passes
Top receiver was again Marquess Wilson. He caught 52 passes for 813 yards and 5 TDs

I think it was just typical transition stuff. As I posted earlier, it takes about a week to install the offense, but much longer to perfect it. Leach is all about repetition. Jeff Tuel, in particular, was promising looking as a soph & junior, then looked like a total deer in headlights as a senior in the Air Raid. He just couldn't get the thing figured out.

Marquess Wilson was a diva WR who quit the team mid season. He didn't like being asked to work hard and not having a coach kiss his *** for the first time in his career.

It wasn't until Connor Halliday took over full time the following year that the offense started to work. Even then, Halliday was more of a gunslinger than Leach probably prefers.

Sounds like you guys are getting Steve Spurrier Jr on your staff. He coached outside WRs at WSU (yes, Leach uses 2 WR coaches). You are probably familiar with Spurrier, but he did a good job at WSU. Good recruiter.

Expect Mason Miller (OL) & Eric Mele (RB or STs) to follow as well. Miller is a good tactical coach and Mele is also a solid recruiter.

Which reminds me, when Leach took over at WSU, his philosophy was pretty much to retain no one from the previous staff. So, unless he's changed his mind on that, I would not expect any of your previous coaches to remain.
