They really need some help via the transfer portal. They need a WR who can challenge a defense down the field, not sure that Criuickshank will be 100% by early next season. Maybe some of their young WRs like Robinson and Munnerlyn (sp?) can emerge,

Melton was great for 2 years. Cruickshank was really coming on when he got hurt. Jones was better last year but mainly because we could not run or protect this year. He’s a great blocker on the edge and a solid receiver. Looking for Washington and one other to emerge next year.

We’re not OSU in the WR room. Or any room but we have some players .

Brandon Sanders will be in the mix. So will Joshua Youngblood.

Possible surprises- Carnell Davis, who was injured over the summer while home in Galloway; Ahmirr Robinson, and 6'5" Shawn Munnerlyn, who had a decent offer list
Edit- someone mentioned Amarion Brown (this year's class).

I wouldnt say that. We had numerous times we got open vertically and could not get them the ball. Hitting those allows for a lot more routes to open up.

Helps when there is time to let the route develop.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but we saw a lot of him on the sidelines from where our seats were. His energy is amazing, you could tell how badly he wanted to be out there.
he clearly has an infectious personality and very positive attitude. easy kid to root for

OL improvement = QB Improvement= WR production increase.

The question really is when do the new OL recruits hit the field and make an impact?

Rutgers ranked 13th in the conference in passing efficiency; only 9 passing TDs for the season. It was a team effort. OC, QB and WRs were all poor. A very easy team to defend. Punter was team MVP.

Not expecting much better next season, unless Wimsatt and one or more of the incoming recruits somehow connect In more ways than one. Gleeson needs to improve his game dramatically. So far, he has been a colossal failure. What has been the value add for his hire?

Yeah, the QB had oodles of time back in the "pocket" to let the WRs run deep routes. And the OC could game plan and count on a 4 second opportunity for people to get open. Obviously all their fault.

I think that Rutgers and a top transfer portal WR would be a perfect fit -
The thing is most big time WR transfors are looking for a big time QB to throw to them. Big time QBs are looking for teams that have big time WRs. We have neither.

FIFY…that piece is critical. Didn’t get it done maybe next year and 2023

Melton OK? Melton was a product of who was throwing the ball to him. Would have loved to see him with Nova
I thought Melton was okay but not great. He had good hands and decent speed, but he could’ve done more to fight to get open and YAC were not very good.
