It’s being said Wright wasn’t even initially going to try the portal but once UK made their major offer he and the people around him got excited about it. Also that when Wright got here he was told that the major NIL offer had a bunch of strings attached and wasn’t guaranteed. Basically he had to hit certain incentives to get the full amount. It was pretty much a dead deal from that point. Pope/JMI/Barnhart are 3 of the dumbest entities ever associated with this school.

Mark really must not realize the chances of him keeping his job without getting Wright were slim to none. Or god forbid he’s somehow been guaranteed atleast four years so he’s not in desperation mode yet.

Don't believe that. They can't tie NIL to performance.

I don’t think incentive based deals are allowed.

I'm sure the Pope pumpers will be along shortly to tell us that this one doesn't matter and everything will be fine, blah blah blah, etc etc etc

Yet here you are.....
Cool story bro..... my one post in catching up for the day compared to the point of my post of 6 pages in less than 2 hours, try actually reading to comprehend sometimes, instead of rushing to get back at someone - I am sure that sounded awesome in your head though, solid effort

You aren’t “allowed” to fine your players either but that didn’t stop Penny.

The original source comes from the BYU side, the guy said early this morning or late last night that Rob had already signed to come back to BYU. He said the full nil offer wasn’t guaranteed. I took that to mean incentives like having to play so many games. Regardless, it wasn’t all guaranteed and that info supposedly came from Rob himself.

Believe it or not, i don’t care. Fact is we have a human fustercluck running the basketball program and athletics dept in general.

I think incentives deals (pay for play) opens the door to becoming an employee. Which the universities don’t want that can of worms opened up.

I think the not guaranteed part comes from actual NIL deals like selling jerseys, hats, etc..

Maybe the sales part is what he meant. Either way once he found out it wasn’t guaranteed that basically killed it.

Except they've already opened it up. Revenue share is employment. The players do not use their own facilities or gear, and are required to show up to work at the times specified by UK. There's no way to call them independent contractors. As a matter of fact, their ability to say most "NIL" as it currently exists is pay-for-play, and thus "employment."

When the IRS decides to audit every one of these universities, they're all screwed. Lol

Exactly.

That fourth year is my biggest worry. I mean, hell, look at this board. One 5 star PF is rumored to commit, and suddenly they want to give him a lifetime extension and go on about how amazing guys from Hofstra and Furman will be in the SEC.

Doubt Rob is the type that the Provo trim is looking for.
Few of them might "try him out" behind the scenes (but would never introduce him to Dad). Also, I'm sure there are SOME black people there? Maybe a handful? Maybe?

Rob will make it up during his pro career.

"do you guys feel that BOOM".

Exactly. He kept calling me a troll when I literally had inside info on Wright going back to BYU. I said it before anyone while that guy was still saying his "sources" were still saying Kentucky lol

He had no intention of ever coming here.
I hope it bites him in the ***.

He came to Lexington to try to get a bigger offer, in which he would’ve just backed channeled to BYU to get a match. However, I don’t think the offer was much bigger. He basically put a line in the water and didn’t get a bite.

KSR says we offered 750k more and Kentucky had photo/videos shoots planned and told his agent if he wasn't going to commit to not come and he came

I’d say he is going to regret that decision including if we get Stokes. From the way it’s looking now we’re going to have a good roster.
