I only use Reddit for getting new wallpapers for my phone (excellent resource for that, by the way) and local stuff since I got rid of my Facebook two years ago!
Alvarez said Darby’s run is generational so where’d you source that from? You sub to WON? Charge someone half for that sub like Netflix?

I asked your mom.

Another one of the Reddit playbook - politics/race/stupid ash attempts at insults like this you hit the trifecta but your prize is the thread members are laughing AT you not WITH you.
The two of you and Gerald are basically the only people who regularly post in this thread and you fight like children.

Just watch the wrestling you like, respect the differences and STFU with the drama lol.

I respect the differences but Nightwish and I call out his “extreme” takes when he toes the line. Plus he apologized a couple months ago for being a d-bag and went right back to it.

I think AEW made that title feel less important by giving it to a guy who weighs about a buck-seventy.
That and the only thing it really did was foreshadow he was going to win those matches - the only thing that’s debatable is if he beats MJF. There’s only a handful of guys TK is giving the big belt to.

I have no issue with them putting the strap on Darby but it needed to be a short title reign. Build a new villain
I just loved the idea of MJF having it uninterrupted and maybe threatening to work part time, leave with the title and take it to Hollywood, whatever. And then you've got Ospreay, the hard working face picking off dude after dude until it's clear around July that MJF is next and it's gotta be that way because of Wembley in London. I realize MJF needs feuds until then but him losing the strap now weakens him. What I'm suggesting is a more traditional setup that has a history of success but TK is going to do his own thing. End of the day we're still getting what we want (hopefully) in London but I was not expecting this Darby sidequest lol.

I don’t think as many AEW fans see Darby as a top guy as TK wants to think. Too many situations of forcing title reigns to work imo. Ospreay is long overdue, should have already been carrying the strap before the neck injury. I really wish the top work rate guy in the industry was carrying that strap for the top work rate company on tv. Darby feels like he’s being forced IMO.

No, what you are suggesting is the modern WWE way of doing things. Top champs don’t get to be part timers in this company.

And yet he’s going to be the champ main eventing the largest gate for a non-All In PPV in AEW history. That’s top guy material.

Critical thinking:

Fans: “We gotta get tickets because Darby is the champion.”

^ Not the largest needle mover imo. Location, venue, company momentum as a whole and quality of the full card dictate ticket sales more for AEW imo.

I’m not a Darby hater. I was ok with putting the strap on him. But I’d rather see it around Ospreay.

I think the great majority of AEW people feel the same way. I’m glad Darby has gotten a run, but Ospreay has deserved that belt for a year or two now IMHO.

He would have gotten it sooner but he wanted to legitimize Swerve’s title reign since everyone was saying Swerve was basically just holding it warm for Ospreay.

This is taking being a mark to a new level.

I am fine with Darby getting a title run, but it needs to be a short one like Foley. “Thanks for the bumps and what you are willing to put your body through. Here’s the belt. (3-4 weeks later) Annnnnnd it’s gone.”

I think Village is correct in thinking Darby isn’t a tip top guy. He’s a main event player but is not a “face of the company” guy. Solid worker, insane bump taker, average promo, built like a crack head. Beating Brody King wasn’t believable for me, for example, even through I knew he would. (I had similar issues with Mysterio as world champ years ago.)

AEW is doing some cool stuff right now. I am going to give them money and buy DON.

I just think they’re really trying too hard with the title defenses on every show. My wife is a casual who will watch wrestling if I am while also looking at her phone.

During Collision on Saturday she noticed Sammy Guevara and said “I didn’t know he still worked there. Haven’t seen him in forever.” She later asked why he was getting a shot at the world title. I shrugged. I can buy some opponents but Speedball and Sammy, for example, shouldn’t be within a couple midcard title divisions of the world title.

Sammy getting a title shot was explained on tv when he made the challenge. On Collision. Did he deserve it? No, not in my opinion, but the explanation was at least semi-logical.

Speedball is one of the best workers in the company with wins over Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight.

On her Twitch stream, Tiffany Stratton revealed that her ring name was almost “Veronica Swanson” instead of Tiffany Stratton.

But the real gem? Tiffy said she seriously considered going with “Darby” so she could lean all the way into her Buff Barbie persona and call herself the Darby Doll

Imagine that alternate universe!

Why would someone want to share a nickname with this monstrosity?

Yea, kinda sad when Darby holds Pretty Platinum while someone like Brody King, a guy who looks like a true monster with a crazy good finisher, can't get a turn with it.
