Powerhouse Hobbs left AEW two weeks into the calendar year of 2026. He has more TV matches in AEW (2) this calendar year than in WWE (1) since debuting there at the end of January for the Rumble.

One of the new WWE ID signings got his new WWE name last night and they named him after a murderer and kidnapper. Same weird spelling and all.

Does anyone actually watch this?

WWE programming is over saturated.

I don’t even have time/desire to keep up with NXT or TNA and I’m currently only watching Dynamite and bits and pieces of Smackdown/Raw/Collision after reading results.

About a month or so after it debuted on Tubi it was getting easily under 100K views a week with precipitous weekly drops. I’ve seen nothing about its viewership ever since.

It's out of the Russo playbook and risky to talk about bad creative and low ratings ON THE SHOW, esp. when the company is asking fans to fork over so much. The only positive I see is Pat being a great hype man and good on the stick. He painted Cody as a corporate stooge champ and his promo was almost a call for longtime fans to cheer for Orton, which I think they were doing anyway.

I don't care about the face/heel angle as much. Trick was supposed to be an arrogant heel but fans made him a face. Sami is getting some boos as is Cody. Orton is getting cheered because he's cool and they want to see #15. Roman was cheered after throwing Punk through a table because carnage. Kit Wilson, as a heel, got massive cheers a few weeks ago because he's got a new gimmick.

Ya it’s the stone cold cool angle - I thought they were teasing a zayn heel turn with Cody but maybe they’ll do a double turn with trick/zayn eventually

You got to stop acting like a cry baby whenever someone points out WWE stupidity.
I’m not a crybaby bc I literally don’t care - you’re the crybaby that constantly complains about all wwe stuff - literally no one cares about wwe main event and yet you tell us you care by some weird irrelevant post about a taped online show

Do better oh wait I don’t think you can

Pat McAfee going “yeah this *hit sucks bro” is an odd strategy to pull out of the playbook when ticket sales for WM are down nearly 20% year over year.

I know it’s above your mental capacity but he does talk about wwe on his espn show and podcast that more people watch than AEW I know it’s a sore spot for you but it’s a tough pill to swallow!

What a great way to sell the product. “This stuff sucks, no one likes it, it’s bad business, we can’t sell tickets, we got midgets wrestling for no reason.”

He could have been brought in to the fold without crapping on the product.

But what do I know? Let’s trust the people in WWE who are 19% underwater year over year for WrestleMania ticket sales and who managed to sell -900 tickets since the last WrestleTix update.

According to the dirt sheets, the Cody end of the night speech wasn’t originally planned and they were trying to save the angle as much as they could.

I don’t disagree the whole Vegas thing was a terrible decision and the prices are oversold and the only interesting match is probably Oba/brock since Oba is on the 2000 Brock trajectory but mcafee is a safer option than another celebrity like Travis Scott who did more harm than good in the short and long term.
I mean they could have done worse and have it be Vince or arn Anderson.
Heck they could have had it be “nobody” and play into “he hears voices in his head”

He’s also the guy that brought in Travis Scott last year - if you don’t know the biz prob stay out.

-//////////////

So, it was TKO all along. 😂

According to both Bodyslam and Dave Meltzer, the decision to reveal Pat McAfee as Randy Orton’s mystery caller came directly from Ari Emanuel and TKO executives.

The idea?

They believe McAfee is a major star, and bigger names will help bring in more viewers and sell tickets heading into WrestleMania 42.

And that’s how we went from weeks of mystery...

To this reveal.

I think that is Triple H reading the room on socials in three hours and immediately going to the wrestling media to blame someone else.

Even mark henry had trouble trying to defend mcAfee on the radio today. He kept saying it was a good idea but couldn’t begin to say why.
My thing is mcafee can still hype it on espn but him in the match doesn’t move tickets - the weird thing is he said “I’m here to save the business b/c tickets are slow” is such a corporate statement and people just laugh at it

Too many wannabe cooks. If HHH is their guy to lead creative, they should let him do that and fail or prosper on his own. He's the former wrestler and the guy the locker room trusts. The TKO guys really need to understand this isn't UFC where you can put some random assed celeb in there and UFC fans would be like "cool" because none of that is story-based. You don't see Howie Mandel showing up at the end of Reservoir Dogs because it wouldn't make sense and would throw everything off.

Can't wait to hear Cornette's reaction because he loves Pat and Randy but despises the Russo worked/shoot exposing the business stuff. He may just sigh for the whole segment lol.

McAfee is a good idea in the fact that he has his show on ESPN and WWE is aligned with ESPN. It'll generate some headlines, corporate synergy, probably get ESPN talking about it more, etc. I don't care about his involvement one way or the other from a story perspective.

Perhaps they felt was needed to get more of ESPN's attention during the height of March Madness and heading into crunch time of the NBA season, both of which are going to dominate the airwaves much more than WWE will. But if they needed McAfee directly involved in the story to get more coverage of WrestleMania on ESPN to cover it more, then they need to have some conversations with their media partner.

McAfee was a bad idea in the content of his promo. You 100% cannot go on TV and crap on the product in that manner. It's booking and promotional malpractice. Then they tried to salvage it by having Cody out there making references to "inside baseball" stuff and stuff the vast majority of the modern WWE fan isn't going to know squat about.

It's garbage that WCW did during its tailspin into what surely would have been bankruptcy if WWE hadn't bought it. It's garbage AEW was doing during its worst period.

How on Earth could they have possibly thought that was a good idea? If you were shopping for a car, would you buy a car if the salesman was telling you it sucks because of x, y, and z? If you were looking at buying concert tickets, would you buy it if the band was telling you their concerts suck?

If you're on TV, you're a representative of the company. Act like it. If you want to be a guy dishing out hot takes, then quit and go be a part of the IWC.

Now I see why no one paid, or at least didn't pay enough, for NXT PLE rights. Their first PLE on YouTube, which is supposed to be their biggest PLE of the year, aired last night and got significantly less viewers for the main event than an average episode of TNA.

And the total viewership right after it aired just barely beat out TNA viewership. But YouTube view counts are designed to cook the books. You count as a viewer if you watch 30 seconds.

If you only watch 30 seconds of TNA you aren't even going to register in the final tally for Nielsen because you only watched less than 1% of the show. Nielsen is a measure of the average viewership for the duration of the show rather than total viewers.

If 200K people watched the first hour and another set of 200K people watched the second hour, that's 200K viewership by Nielsen's measurement system and 400K by YOuTube's measurement system.
