Obviously we all know by now Steady Stedman put his hat in the ring... Id like to see him given the opportunity, at least for 1 season, to see if thats his calling, but outside of SB, who are a few realistic+probable candidates?

I dont think Brown will hire just anyone, actually I think this could be a blessing and allow Brown to upgrade at that spot. I think SB would be a great recruiter, would connect very well with current recruits in FL & elsewhere, and given his collegiate & pro experiences, he may in fact be better then Dye, as SB's technique & sure-handiness is why he was so good .. That said, Brown will hire someone of quality who exudes the character & culture he is building in Morgantown, so Im sure whomever it will be, he will add something to the group. Personally, I hope its either SB or someone from a different offensive coaching tree, to bring new & different perspectives, or at least has experience under multiple+varying offensive philosophies. To get someone more experienced, its going to require more then $200K tho, while SB would probably take the job for $200K...

If you look at major programs, some of the larger programs have old HC's or OC's as position coaches, I suppose Brown in many ways, is limited to what Lyons gives him..

Are there any names floating around other then SB?? I havent checked the boards in a few days so...

Blaine Stewart, almost named Steelers WR Coach a few months ago. Clint Trickett is outside possibility but I read where he’s being promoted to Offense Coordinator and Quarterback Coach at FAU. Pat White could be also be an option, he’s been the Quarterback Coach at Alcorn State past few years. Garin Justice is another possibility, he’s offense coordinator at UNLV. Don’t see him leaving but WVU could match pay and he may be intrigued by coming home. All these options are WVU connections, doubt any happens. Most likely an outsider, we shall know more in a few weeks when bowl games start to finish up. As @WVUALLEN said Ryan Nehlen is also an option. He’s already on the staff as an analyst so he could be promoted. Personally, I’d love to lure Vince Marrow from Kentucky but it would cost a lot and Kentucky could easily match any possible offer. He is a recruiting guru, done phenomenal work at UK. Helped land them some very good players including some that we lost out on.

No former WVU player has experience needed.

WVU is a Big12 program not Marshall. Brown needs to bring in a top recruiter and a coach with P-5 experience.

Pat White lmao

Blaine Stewart, to many burnt bridges, he will never come back to WVU.

Pat White big?

Clint Trickett has family here and would love coaching at WVU. Not sure they ask him though.

Ryan Nehlen already on staff and a top possibility.

John Pennington West Virginia State head coach. Pennington has gradually moved through the ranks and seems well situated to be a candidate for the job.

Who ever Brown hires they will be young candidate and well thought of by other programs.

Damn...DAMN..I'd be all over Vince Marrow...in a musket ball shot!! With HCNB Kentucky connections,Id be nervous, if Neal came to town.. Needless to say, recruiting would be this staffs legendary trademark for years to come.We could literally, in 2-3 seasons...FINALLY be a legit contender for the B12 title..SERIOUSLY :airplane::flyingwv:

Every great coach, started with no or limited experience. That requirement is just garbage. There are a ton of experienced coaches out there, many of whom move around alot without ever moving up. Talent and ability trump experience, unless your goal is pre-planned for limited mediocrity. Has to have a ton of experience and has to be p5 and big 12. BS

No former WVU player has experience? Garin Justice would disagree. Yeah we would all love a big recruiter and coach. I’d love to see WVU throw $1 million at Vince Marrow to see if UK would match. We could move Trickett to WR Coach and let Marrow coach TEs. But I don’t see it happening, our last WR Coach made $200k. Don’t see them significantly increasing funds to land a big fish.

Marrow only makes $275K per yr, so I would think We could offer $300K-$350k for someone of higher quality. Some position coaches are better recruiters, other are better teachers, its a fine line to walk/pursue..

Whomever it will be, should be the complete package, Id rather get someone whos a bit more experienced, at least with a few more established recruiting relationships, but whos also a good tactician, who can bring new offensive perspectives to the room, one who also exudes the culture HCNB is building. Diversification nurtures unpredictability, and as many "analyst" as blue bloods have these days, we need as many ideas/philosophies as possible in that room, so spreading out from the Hal Mumme tree would be a great thing..

Andre Coleman.

He is another former Bill Snyder assistant.
Was a QC coach for Texas this year and right now is filling in as WR coach.
Most likely will be let go at the end of this week if they hire Carrier from Dana.
