There was a thread up earlier today that had SEVERAL posters WANTING Bennett to be the next UK Coach.

They are DEFINITELY out there. It SCARES the CRAP out of me because he is a wonderful person and just the type of coach Mitch would LOVE to hire. That would be a TOTAL DISASTER!!!

The difference is Virginia defense keeps them in games and wins them games, Virginias defense would have stopped vandy yesterday, and won both times. I want better offense to and I am extremely tired of rock fights, but Virginia has a system that works

You saw what a Bennett offense was capable of in 2019 when he had 3 NBA players (Jerome, Guy and Hunter) plus some decent role players. If he did take the UK job, one would expect him to recruit better talent than he currently lures to Virginia. Not saying I want him, I just think it wouldn’t be as bad as people are saying.

Not good enough to work at UK.

His system MILKS the clock on offense and makes the opponent play defense for 25 seconds to wear them down and create turnovers and tired legs. That is NOT the type of system I want. It is PATHETIC!!

I want to return to a RUN AND GUN like Rupp and Pitino used with a MODERN approach. Bennett is the FURTHEST thing from that. UVA can KEEP him.

I agree, it can at Virginia my point was just that their defense would let yesterday happen or what happened last week. I want a offense like what bama and Mizzou are doing

Another poster already mentioned an earlier thread with people saying they would love to have Bennett come to UK. One poster even said they found Bennett's offense to be fun to watch. I also have seen a number of posters say they would welcome Beenett to UK in past threads about who we could get. You must have just missed them somehow. I, personally, wouldn't want him. He coaches great defense but I think our fans would find his style as a snooze fest to watch.

just to go on the record but I WOULD NOT WANT BENNETT AS OUR COACH' same for beard.
rupp built uk on fast paced offense and thats what we need

The scores are low and the games are slow but Bennett's teams defend. There is nothing phony about the defense they play. Ask any team/ coach that they play.

Actually Dukes D is pretty good. Their length is what is giving UVA trouble

Not so much this year because their offense is meh but I think people look at overall scores and tend to underrate UVA's offense (and I guess to a certain extent overrate their defense).

This is why things should always be looked at on a per possession basis and not overall score.

You play at a snails pace you are not going to score many points no matter what kind of offense you have.

In 2016, Bennett had a top 10 offense. In 2019, it was rated 2nd.

So he's definitely capable of fielding some good offensive teams.

Yeah duke is winning this, the Procter kid is starting to hit jumpers for them and Filipowski is getting better duke might be able to make a final four run

Bennet has always valued defense over offense, sort of reminded me of Tubby, but I think Tubby was a better offensive coach than Bennet.
