Would you want Rick Stansbury back?

Last I checked Stans was 3-5 on the road... but he did beat La Tech at home which Howland couldn’t do...

No. Why do we want to change from one proven mediocre coach to another proven mediocre coach.

If we had to bring back a past coach it would be Richard Williams and just tell him to be a little more discrete with the coeds.

No. The second time around is never as good as the first. Stans should have taken the Clemson job. Would have worked out a lot better for both him and us if he had.

Personally, idk if it would work out very good at all. What does the board think?

Stansbury would run that 1-3-1 zone and kill opposing teams with Brandon Vincent or Michael Gholar on the point of that thing.

BRING BACK THE STANZ!

I'd love to be back to where we were in the stans era but....

No I would not want him to come back. That ship has long sailed and a Stans II would likely go about as well as Polk II did.

Hadad said somethings on T&L that I agree with, he said the hump will never return to its heyday until we we have multiple good years. He didn't define that but I will. Winning is certainly a component but I think it has to do with consistency and playing up to one's potential more than anything. Unfortunately I have little faith in a howland coached program doing that. We have two things that is killing support for men's basketball. Good recruiting with mediocre results is the primary cause. A secondary cause is an established elite women's program. This drastically reduces the tolerance for an underperforming men's team which in all fairness Stans did not have to contend with. I am not saying I would rather not have a good women's program but it is a factor nonetheless.

I don't see any reason to expect MSU to hire a coach who will consistently return better results than Howland or Stansbury.

The alumni support sucks. The student support sucks. The local talent sucks.

I agree on local talent... Mississippi doesn’t produce the depth of quality basketball players it used to...
