Give them some time. Their case load is exploding. They are also starting to do lockdown type stuff. Did you see where Norway has called up their Home Guard to help police the border with Sweden?

August: Look, Sweden has beaten the virus with herd immunity even though they had 20 times the deaths of other Nordic countries. That's okay because we will have to wait years for a 50% effective vaccine.

November: Look, Sweden is having an explosion in cases over the last couple of weeks, but the death rate is dropping as other countries that are a month ahead on a second wave pass them. That's okay because death rates never lag case counts.

February 2021: Look at all the money Sweden is going to save not having to take care of all the immune compromised and elderly going forward. Plus they won't have to get a vaccine that will cause autism in every child born from now till 2075.

Yay Sweden. We may have had our economy contract 8.3% in 2020 vs the 5.2% of Finland and Norway, but we did it without those itchy masks.

Denial is a river in Sweden.

When Sweden is ready to throw in the towel on their Coronavirus policy, maybe it’s time for folks on this board to give it up as well...

That's too bad. Even with all of the advantages of that populace - socioeconomic, overall health/access to healthcare, workplace conditions with nearly 50% already working from home Before Corona - it seems they've not been able to sidestep or develop viable alternative policies to the rest of Scandinavia and Western Europe.

They tried something different that wasn't irrational given the built in advantages. And at least they have the intellectual honesty to follow the data, admit when something isn't working, and try something else. That process is more important than any particular policy.

You 17’ers amaze me. Ignore statistics until it favors you. Ignore science until it favors you. Math isn’t this 17’ing hard. Clearly we need more Swedish bikini models. But noooooo close the borders!!!

Every so often, around a campfire or out fishing, I say "It can't get any better than this", and look to the skies hoping.
