I won't agree on the Miller Lite and Natty bit, as those are swill, but it does seem like a lot of people act like they just love a lot of this pinecone tasting stuff just so that they'll seem cool. The more obscure and turpentine-like, the better.

When did it become cool to like all these ****** craft beer? Give me Miller Lite and y'all can keep all that awful tasting dark beer! And I like a cold Natty to mix things up now and then as well.. I'm not a fan of the craft beer fad.

This is a joke, right?

Fads come and go, this craft beer is here to stay.

We had a port call in Curacao when I was in the Navy, and I had a Venezuelan beer called Polar. Pretty sure it had formaldehyde in it.

What's the best beer? Free beer.

Ha, I actually used to drink my share of that...

...but you're right, it's awful. I can't even finish one anymore.

Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Why on earth one would add allspice and nutmeg to beer is beyond me.

Schaefer beer. Only beer I've came across I absolutely can not drink.

I agree and disagree with you. I went through spurts living in Starkville where all I drank was craft beer, specifically rogue, and then all I would drink was miller after that. Dark beer, lite beer, free beer, expensive beer, I like it all. Unless it is coors light or anything else that tastes like cigarette water. Give me Miller Lite or High Life and I'm just as happy if it were Rogue or Samuel Smiths.

Disagree. Schlafly puts out a really good pumpkin beer. I haven't found any Blue Moon I like.

Any smoked malt beer. I hate the style. I can drink most anything, but I can't do those. I think Scotch Ales are usually smoked too. Yuck.

Sam Adams cherry chocolate bock. Tastes like nyquil mixed with club soda
I can drink most anything and be ok with it, not this stuff.
SA Harvest Pumpkin Ale I don't care for either.

I'm surprised this many State fans are pretentious about their beer.

We just returned from the "Beaches of Snobbery" (seaside/30A).
I'm drinking a Beach Blonde Ale from Grayton Beer
Wouldn't have thought making good beer with beach water would be possible, but it's not bad.

I wouldn't say pretentious, people are just stating opinion....funny how that works. I cant speak for everyone but if times were tough, I wouldn't care what beer it was. I might talk about how bad it is while killing it but I would have a good laugh while doing so.

That being said, I hate bourbon aged anything beer....barrel aged...whatever....if I want bourbon, I would just drink it..

pretentious: attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed.Believing you are better than someone because of the beer they like? I call that pretentious.

After rereading the thread, it wasn't as many folks as I thought.
The "how can you like this food or drink more than this?" crowd is funny to me.
So I notice it more.

Personal taste is an amalgam of sociological pressures and how/where you grew up.
Judging someone based on their taste buds defines pretentiousness to me.

Unless of course you like Dreamland ribs, in which case you may be the spawn of Satan.

Miller Lite Ice was my favorite beer back in the early 90's.

Unless I missed it somewhere, how has no one mentioned Southpaw yet?
First beer I ever drank. Thought I hated beer until I was informed that was the worst of the worst. I bought some tall boys of Southpaw for a tailgate about 5 or 6 years ago to throw in the cooler as a "this is the beer I'll hand moochers" and just to see if my memory was making it worse than it actually was.... ugh. Sadly though, they stopped making it a couple of years ago.

For me, it is a tie between the Beast and Old English 800. Being broke in college led to some desperate drinking decisions being made.

Agreed. Anchor has fantastic beer. Anchor Steam is fabulous. Old Foghorn is great. I also love their Christmas beer.

Oh, the topic at hand -- the beer I absolutely can't stand-- I'd have to go with Milwaukee's Best with most craft beer hefes tied for second.

OB and Royal (Korean)

I have downed many an OB too, I still have an unopened one from my tour in 1990. I think they also had a beer called 33 that was just as bad.

The worst beer I ever tasted was from a "pin tapping" Lucky Town had at Table 100, some kind of pepper infused offering, just not my thing. I do love their ballistic blonde though.

Yeah but you could get Sh$%faced on 2 of them. AC was 3 times what it is here.

Recently, it was Red Stripe. I had my fair share of it in Jamaica and it was mighty tasty, but the kind you buy at the grocery store in the States is awful. Disappointing and generically bland
