Working from home? Love it or hate it?...

I'm with you. I have had a company laptop and cell phone for years so i have the ability to work from home. They selected a few people out of the office to work from home (and bought them all new laptops) and i wasn't one of them. Our boss told us that we are all going to get it anyway so no sense in letting everyone go home. This whole situation has made me realize that I need a new employer

Hate it. I'm ready to get back going places. I really miss interacting with my coworkers and collaborating with them in person. I miss going out for lunch too.

Only benefits are I spend a lot less on gas, food and daycare.

I'm jealous. I'd like to try it.

Unfortunately the owner of our company doesn't believe in all this 'virus' mumbo jumbo and is determined to keep us all coming in to the office until something forces his hand... I said "that's a bold strategy, Cotton" but he didn't seem to understand.

So I work all day, and try to help the kids at night. I too am shocked at the amount of work they are sending home weekly. 30 page packets, books to read, daily log-ins on the computer apps, etc. I wonder if they are going overboard on this so no one complains when the teachers ask for raises this summer.

Also, 17 common core. 17 it right in the denominator.

If I had my full office setup at home, it would be better.
Right now I have about 85% of it and that last 15% slows me and coworkers down.

We dont collaborate as much now.
...but a lot of collaboration was just one-off mini rant/*****/complaint sessions in the office.

Last week I drove to the office at night and took my chair. My wife claimed our office chair and 17 that kitchen chair i used for 2 days.
Sitting in comfort now.

Love it - We already only did 2 days in the office a week for "face to face collaboration" which mainly consists of us sitting in our open space cubicles on the phone all day and not collaborating... Having my wife working and our 15 month old here is a totally different dynamic... but I love working from home under normal circumstances.

Hate it. Having two “check-in” conference calls a day with my supervisor is a hassle, and technology reliability is inconsistent.

The longer this drags on, though, I think the lack of freedom that everyone is experiencing is the biggest factor for me. I really miss going to sit down and have a meal or being able to go get something I need. I broke the toilet seat yesterday. I can’t just run out and get another without putting the family at risk. As it is, it’s amazon prime, and taking an extra wide posture, as to not slide off.
