Wordle thread

Since plural words are never the answer, switching to STEAM would use the same letters and give you a chance at an ace. Additionally, a chance for letter position 5 to be correct. If nothing hits you can still use your current fallback second guess.

I had not been aware of the no plurals thing. Will start using something else. Thanks!

Same but worse. When I don't get any of the letters with my start word, I always use the same second word and knew I had a birdie. Ouch...

I would like everyone, including myself, to feel a bit better about today's word. With the pattern (and unless you got lucky with an earlier guess), that first letter is basically coming down to luck. There were 4 words with that permutation and no words that contained 3 of those letters to get you down to one guess after using a burner word. So your options were:

• Guess randomly at the first letter and have an equal change of getting it in 1, 2, 3, or 4 guesses
• Use a burner word and guarantee you can get it with 3 guesses (including the burner)/hopefully get lucky and get it in 2
