It was clear that the ladies' struggled last night against Missouri - missed free throws, fairly easy shots missed (particularly in the paint), some missed assignments, etc. But they hung in there and were able to win the game through toughness and persistence - strong defense was key in the third quarter and at the end. Blair really stepped up, making shots and taking that late charge. This team really does resemble the personality of its coach.

The team seems at times to play up or down to the level of its opponent - parts of the Ole Miss game are an example. Our ladies also have an off game at times where shots they usually make just don't fall - last night was a good example.

I am hoping that they will be prepared for USC. Having a down game last night should serve as a strong motivator to make sure that they are "up" against USC. The three losses to them last year should prove to be a strong motivator. I am not sure that our ladies can survive an offensively "down" game against them. We will need to come out against them quickly and strike hard as we did against UConn last year.

Thankfully, we will not go into the USC game following a demoralizing loss or an emotional high (like playing USC in the finals last year after the win over UConn). I think this game is very winnable for our ladies, but they will have to bring their best.

Hopefully we will not draw the same officials as our games against USC last year.

Cohen needs to make sure Dee Katner doesn't come to the Hump. She's the official that will screw us. She did all 3 games against us last year.

I was glad to see us finally have a game where wee needed to win in crunch time. Since I don't think we'll see that again until Connecticut and Baylor.

We won a game we did not win 2 years ago. I brought up Georgia 2016. We played in Athens before we hosted SC and just had a terrible offensive performance and let an inferoir team beat us. Difference here is Missouri wasn't as inferior and had a much larger crowd(IDC what everyone is saying about their crowd, better than most for women's basketball and it looks better for us to win in front of one).

I'm looking forward to Monday. And a win means that every team but Georgia is 3 games behind in the SEC race and thanks to LSU, they are right now 2 games behind. Winning the SEC and SEC Tournament is in sight. Let's do it.

How in the hell does one referee get assigned to all 3 games that 2 teams play each other in? That's a pretty huge coincidence, if it was a coincidence.

Don Rutledge used to call all the mens games back in the day....to very similar fan anger.

I agree with you and all the other names posted in this thread. IMO a ref should never be so much of a factor that fans take the time to learn their name.

There is one guy name Eric Koch, lives in nola. We have him 3 or 4 times a year. Ive seen him do some of your games over the last few years.
Our hc's husband has called the guy Opie from the stands all the way back to their time in Memphis. Long enough when called Opie he will look at who yelled it.

Is it just me or does Dawn Staley have her way when it comes to influencing refs?

I believe pretty strongly we will beat SC this time. However,I don’t see any team beating UConn including us. They have WAY too many shooters to defend.

The same thing can be said about us. UConn is great, don’t get me wrong, but they’ve also had games where they struggled this season.
