I really hope we get some good competition in those tourneys.

We also need to get at least 2 or 3 decent home-and-aways scheduled each year. I want UConn on the schedule.

Yeah. That's a fairly disappointing schedule to get us ready for conference play. And, if the SEC is as down this year as it was last year, we can't necessarily count on conference play to help our RPI as much as it used to.

If we don't get some real competition in those showcases and if the sec was as down as last year then I don't know that going undefeated for the regular season would even get us a 1 seed. A slipup or 2 with that schedule and I don't know that a 2 is possible.

I don’t know that I would expect a 1 seed this year anyway. We’ll be good but super young, nowhere near the experience we’ve had the last three years.

Stanford is in that Vancouver tournament and they are projected to be a Top 5 team, so that’s at least one big time game we’ll likely play. At Marquette will be tough as well. Playing USF in Las Vegas and they are pretty consistently a tourney team.

I’m willing to bet our nonconference SOS ends up being close to what it was last year. We played more big games (Oregon, Texas, Marquette) but also played several teams with RPIs over 200. This year, not as many marquee games but fewer teams with awful RPIs.

It didn’t hurt us too much last year did it? I mean we were a #1 seed even with a completely inexcusable home loss to an unranked team. Just need to make sure there’s an Oregon / Baylor / UConn / ND / Louisville / Stanford / etc. in at least one of those showcases. I’m guessing there will be.

Vic has said they have a very tough time getting teams to come to the Hump...... Also, does being a #1 seed really help MSU anyway? Last year it meant we had to go play Oregon in Portland...

Is the JSU game on campus or in the Coliseum? By on campus I'm referring to JSU's campus.

It's a pretty bad schedule, but Stanford will be at the Vancouver Showcase. Last year, 3 top 10 teams were in that showcase. Let's hope some other quality teams show up. Marquette probably won't be raked this year because they lost 4 starters and their head coach left.

Baylor went undefeated in 2018 with a terrible schedule and got the last 2 seed. They ended up getting upset in the round of 32. At this point, we need 2 top 10 OOC matchups every year.

We will likely have to play somebody in a true road game this year too. Regional sites are Portland, Dallas, Greenville, and Fort Wayne. I’d bet every dollar I have that Oregon plays in Portland, Baylor plays in Dallas, SC plays in Greenville, and Notre Dame plays in Fort Wayne. At least the final four is in NOLA if we get that far.

2020 sites: Ft. Wayne, Dallas, Portland, Greenville (SC). New Orleans championship.
2021 sites: Spokane, Cincinnati, Albany, Austin. San Antonio championship.

2021 would be a great get to have Austin (with a win, of course).

That's dumb, no matter what happened in that one year, history has proven the best chance of reaching the final four in wbb is being a 1 seed. The goal is to win a natty, to win a natty you gotta make the FF, and one seed makes that most likely. It isn't rocket science.

And who is to say we likely won't be in the hunt for a one seed anyway? How many at the beginning of the 16-17 season said we'd be in the hunt for a natty? One thing we know about Vic is his teams win. But he can't overcome a crappy NonCon. Hopefully DC11 is correct and those showcases gets us some top notch competition. It will be required to bring the best out of this highly talented but younger ball club.
