The truth necessitates it. Truth matters. As long as there are morons saying the WNBA is good basketball, I'll have to be there to fact check it.
Dude, your comments have established that you wouldn't know good basketball if it slapped you in the face. I think you may have been the only dude on here still talking about our Men's Basketball team after Florida blew us out by 40 and it was clear our team sucked.

So we can only talk about our MBB when they don't suck?

It's going to be a quiet winter around here.

I watch the WNBA, mostly three teams, the Aces, the Dream, and the Fever. But I prefer college WBB and watch all the SEC and Top 20 teams in other conferences.
I don't care for the NBA, therefore I don't watch it and don't post about it (same thing for golf and hockey). I don't understand your obsession with the WNBA and repeated slights at a sport that thousands of men and women enjoy both live and on TV.

From your own mouth: thousands of people enjoy the WNBA.

Yes, I said thousands, as in hundreds of thousands, often times millions of viewers. I just didn't want you to nitpick. When shown on a similar network, like ESPN, the WNBA averages more viewers than the NHL. And the NHL has been around more than 100 years.

WNBA is like a subsidiary of the WWE - people who watch do so for the personalities, fashion, catfights and drama, not for the quality of the sport. Over the past few months, it seems scripted to generate headlines.
If it were scripted, don't you think Caitlin and Sophie would be in the finals instead of eliminated in the first round?

The WNBA outdraws the NHL only on ABC and ESPN. The NHL draws a massive portion of its audience and revenue from Canada and local/regional cable networks.
The NHL vastly outperforms the WNBA in total annual games, attendance revenue, and overall business valuation.

Atlanta Dream crush the Valkyries 97-71 to take a two games to one series lead in the WNBA Finals. Angel Reese led all players with 21 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 55%, and 2-2 from 3 at a sold out arena of over 17,000.
And strangely enough, Caitlin Clark was nowhere in sight.

The Woke Liberal WNBA does NOT want Sophie or Caitlyn in the finals.... Destroys their narrative..
Which is weird. Clark in the finals would be an absolute ratings bonanza.

The WNBA finals have lower viewership than Clark's regular season games.

I'm not saying any league should rig it so their superstars get to the finals, but the WNBA makes no bones about trying to keep Clark from making it. Viewership would be more than double what it is.

If they were running a business, they'd be wishing on their lucky stars that Clark would make it. But they aren't running a business. It's a charity supported organization. The NBA keeps them afloat financially, so they can be as silly woke as they want and not worry about a financial bottom line.

WNBA is following the model laid out by the WWE. Reese is their current "Chief Villain" ala Rowdy Roddy Piper. Both Clark and Cunningham are the designated victims used to generate audience sympathy and two different fan bases. It's not team vs team but good vs evil marketing strategy.

You nailed it when you brought in the NBA charity. The ?nba can afford to despise straight white players because they never have to care about attracting viewers.

Why is Reese a villain? What has she done in the W that would make you say that? She and Caitlin have the same number of technical fouls. Is it because in college she imitated Clark's "can't see you" gesture in the finals?

Do you have an inflatable doll with Reese's face glued on it? 🙂

Reese is simply playing the part per the WNBA marketing strategy. Compare her to Hulk Hogan and you can see it clearly. Outspoken public persona, fashion statements, endorsements, etc. combined with the on-court physicality, trash talking spectacles and public comments. It's all about playing a role for the $$$.

Breaking news: Reese successfully dribbles ball the length of the floor! Best player ever!!!

He won't answer that.

And everyone knows why. It pretty much ends the argument when someone tries to hype how popular something is, but wont watch the ptoduct themselves.

Or will watch it during commercials of other shows.

This tells more about the popularity of the ?NBA than any viewership statistic.
Yeah, the get-in price for an NBA finals game is anywhere from the low thousands to over $10k depending on the matchup.

Viewership ratings don't mean much, even these WNBA finals have been viewed less than a Clark regular season game.

Believe it or not, though, this is massive progress. A few years ago there was a guy doing videos on the street trying to GIVE away tickets to a WNBA game. Nobody wanted them.

The point made above is true, though. People who do actually watch the WNBA do it for the theatrics. Like watching mud wrestling. Nobody would watch it for the wrestling techniques. Nobody's watching the WNBA for the tactically sound basketball.

Am I missing something. Sabrina Ionescu is straight and white. I don't hear anything about WNBA players or fans hating her. Kelsey Plum is straight and white. No talk about hate for her. Both have won WNBA Championships. Is it race or the type of fan that comes with Caitlin Clark? Ionescu and Plum are nice. They don't disrespect the other players and expect special treatment. They are part of the Sisterhood. Caitlin and her fans came in expecting to be above it all without proving anything on that level. That's the problem.

I'm not familiar with either of those name, which tells you all you need to know.

Those players are not wildly popular. Clark was the most popular player in the WNBA before she even set foot on a court, and she continues to have a stranglehold on that distinction. If Clark wasn't so popular, they wouldn't care about her either.

Her popularity clashes with the WNBAs known preferred demographic focus.
