The WNBA is the most self destructive sports league I’ve seen in my lifetime. They had arguably the most popular female player in the history of college basketball join the league and instead of enjoying playing in sold out arenas, the other players simply brutalize her.
I watched Caitlyn Clark play against Rutgers in a sold out RAC in a year Rutgers couldn’t half fill the lower level. She is an amazing player and doesn’t deserve the way the WNBA officials, management and players have treated her. The league is a disgrace and doesn’t deserve the popularity that Caitlyn Clark could help bring to it.
The way Caitlyn Clark has been brutalized by other WNBA players is beyond comprehension. I don’t know what motivates the other players, whether it is racism, jealousy or just plain hate, but it’s a disgrace. The latest attack on her in which she was knocked down, stepped on, kneed in the groin and punched in the throat wasn’t even called a foul by the officials.
After the game as the outrageous video of the attack was being posted the league gave one player involved a one game suspension and a minor fine. Better would be to fire the officials involved and suspend all the players involved in the ongoing assaults against Caitlyn Clark. There are videos showing the abuse that Caitlyn Clark faces game in and game out. Nobody should have to put up with the abuse she faces.
