Last week of the regular season. Congrats to ACR on the conference championship. Looks like we were all pretty right with our predictions before the season started. ACR was unanimous pick to win the conference, followed by Asheville, Erwin, and Tuscola. Looks like that is about right. Here are this weeks picks.

ACR @ TCR
NH @ Enka
Asheville @ WH
Tuscola @ Erwin

My picks....

ACR 48 TCR 21...TCR has a lot of talent. Reynolds has more!

Enka 28 NH 14.....Both of these teams are ready for the bballs to drop.

Asheville 42 WH 21...West has literally fell apart. Asheville is a really good team when they want to be. I think they cruise here.

Erwin 35 Tuscola 28...Definitely the best game in the conference this week. These two teams always played close in the old WAC and I look for the same this week.

I haven't been around at all this year, and I will continue to stay away for the most part. Mostly since I live in Fairview and work in Waynesville I just don't have as much time to make it to games.

With that said there is no way Erwin loses to Tuscola, not with half of the team moving back to Florida after last Sunday. It just takes that one cold day and they are gone like the wind.

Nice to see you back on here. I am a little confused. What do you mean about their team moving back to Florida?

It' just a dig at the people from Waynesville. Waynesville is full of snow birds, with people only living there half the year before moving back to Florida.

It's not true at all as far as the football team is concerned, just wanted to poke them a little bit.

Asheville JV lost to ACR by 42, WH beat us, that JV game won’t be close! No offense Asheville, but WH JV are good.

Waynesville has to move all the Floridians into town. They have to create an actual tax base for Haywood County to pay for Canton's shortcomings. Ever been to Canton and looked around....................enough said.

I dont know, I've seen some fairly ratty looking sections of Waynesville as well. As for Canton, to be fair, I dont know what you see, but living down here I can tell you I am seeing almost daily improvements in the downtown area, several new businesses, lots of infrastructural improvements, Its a process but they ARE doing all they can with what they have.

I wouldn't put too much stock in to middle school or jv scores. Some teams invest more in that than others do. Prime example was Erwin beating ACR middle something like 65-0 four years ago. They did the same to Asheville as well. Now look at ACR and Asheville. Erwin won the middle school championship this season and last and I won't get my hopes up because it doesn't always translate to varsity.

Any Tuscola fans know who won the jv game last night? I know it went to ot but not sure the winner.

ACR jv's just housed TCR by a score of 44-0. I would say it is West Henderson then ACR in the jv ranks this year.

I believe that is how the conference standings ended up. Tuscola matched up better with ACR than either TCR or West. I would say there is NO WAY TCR should have ended up with losing records with either of those teams. If THS had the talent that TCR has, (on either team) a deep playoff run in small 3A would be a realistic expectation.

Tcr hasn't been successful since Mike Houston and probably will continue to be that way. They are just not physical enough for a team with their size and speed. Until they decide that they want to play hard-nosed physical football they will continue to struggle.

The spread is a great thing, but the best teams are still very physical even out of the spread. It loses its effectiveness when it becomes a finesse offense. Good physical line play from an average defense will kill a finesse offense.

I could be wrong but it seems that a certain level of physicality will always be required for success.

37-19 final here. Very sloppy. 3 turnovers inside the 15 first half. Raining the whole first half out here. 4 total turnovers. Find out who we all play tomorrow

3 terrible performances heading into the playoffs. Not good.

Our game FINALLY ended!!! 56-33 I think was the final. 39 penalties, 9 15 yarders on TCR, after a late hit by TCR, they all came off the Rams bench onto the field! It was ugly! 450+ yards passing for TCR AND 300+ passing for ACR....and throw in an hour delay for lighting. UGH!!!!

One of the worst games I have seen as far as execution and flow. Way too many flags and the officials did a poor job of controlling the game. TCR’s entire team came on the field. I thought there was a penalty involved in that but I may be mistaken. They had players and coaches alike on our half of the field off their bench. This game was testy from the get go. ACR suffered a couple of injuries to starters. I know one is done with a broken leg and I am not sure about the other kid. He was on crutches after the game. I am glad this game is over because I knew it would be like that. One team has everything to play for and the has nothing but pride and hatred of the other. That is the makings of what we had tonight. UGLY.

Good luck to all the wmac teams that are in the playoffs next week. Unfortunately it seems like the only team with a real chance of making a deep run is Acr. The only projection I've seen was Erwin at Al Brown and I think Erwin could give them a run next week if that were to happen.

Hats off to the coaching staff at Erwin, everyone knows I was extremely critical of the hiring process when it happened, and to be honest the way it went down still chaps my ***. With that said the team has made huge strides from week 1 til now and you have to credit the coaches for that. Lots of teams would have mailed it in after an 0-4 start, but to keep fighting and get it turned around shows solid leadership at the top.

I totally agree. I was not happy with the hire but I must admit I was wrong. I really like the way coach Pruitt has brought some much needed grit to this team. They seem to play with passion and he is not afraid to try new things. Whatever they did after the Asheville game was amazing. Their defense is night and day from what it was. The qb change was big too. Good news is the future looks bright. We lose a few good seniors but return a lot of talent. Hope it translates to more wins. Losing Poore is tough but to be honest he never really did that much at Erwin other than the ACR game and last night. He was so good in middle school but that shows that doesn't always translate to varsity.

You Erwin fans should be feeling good about your program. You were the most physical team Tuscola played this year, IMO. I remember watching your game against Mtn Heritage and you honestly looked soft in that game. Something definitely changed for the better with your kids. Good luck in the playoffs.
