In Episode 412, we shift focus to Women's and Men's Hoops.
To boil it down: One team has guards, and the other has...Patrick Spencer?
This pod was recorded before last night's frankly stunning turn of events. We nearly went to Bloomington and beat an admittedly mediocre Hoosiers team by playing a lineup of 3 Forwards, 1 Center...and 1 Attacker. That we were in this game at all speaks to the confidence of a guy who is one of the best players of all time in his main sport and to the level of effort the other guys are giving in the face of daunting odds.
But still...this team has no guards. Hartford showed that even with Buie and Spencer both healthy, teams can overload us offensively simply by putting 3 or more guards on the floor at once. Juxtapose that with the women's team, which is built around a nucleus of 4 SO/JR guards who would start for most Big Ten teams. Sam and John saw the women in person against Maryland; our backcourt is scary good.
