Go Tops (my alma mater)!

Makes you wonder how good they could be if Robinson wasn't a head case and would have played.

But, Purdue is waaaaay overrated.

I agree about Purdue being overrated but WKU played well against Nova...only losing by 8 points. If WKU gets the two guys on the bench (both were top 60 players in the nation coming out of high school) eligible that will be enough to make them scary come March.

Agreed.

The Nova game was actually more impressive than the Purdue win to me.

I really hope those guys can play. WKU will be a contender in C-USA, but with those guys they should win the conference.

With Robinson, they would likely dominate C-USA and win a game or two in the tourney.

I wonder just if Mitchell Robinson would've been a locker room nightmare. He seemed like a huge problem the entire time...a big cloud of drama follows that kid.

Glad to see my alma mater showing signs of life again on the basketball court! UK Athletics first and foremost for me, but I have to cheer for my Toppers too.

Agreed.

WKU grad (class of 1996), but a Wildcat since birth!

I was on the hill from 2002-2007. I’m originally from Nicholasville but have lived in BG ever since I came down here for school. Western is a great place no doubt. I want the sports teams to do well and cheer for them to win, but nowhere near the level I do for the Cats. To be honest though, these die hard Hilltopper-only fans down here kind of annoy me.

Lots of WKU alums are UK fans too. I was rooting hard for my Tops yesterday hoping they would beat Nova.

Of course, it’s early for everybody but some of these early loses by big name teams are suprising. Purdue is overrrsted to be sure, but I wasn’t sure WKU would be this good this year.

That being said I wonder how this bodes for us in Blue for the rest of the season (with other big name teams looking mortal) and this is just awesome news for WKU.

Go Cats and Go Tops!

I really really wanted the Hollingsworth kid. Cal may regret not signing that kid. He is the exact KY boys we need to offer, not offer just because he is from Lexington, but because he can flat out play against anybody.

Is Robinson playing?

He is at home playing NBA 2K18. I am almost glad he flaked out. His talent is undeniable, but he would have killed our chemistry with his drama.

I was excited to see 3 KY guys leading the way last night (two of them being true freshmen in Ohmer and Hollingsworth).

Agreed. I live near BG (20 minutes north) and spend a lot of time in BG. The WKU "purists" are beyond silly sometimes.

Yeah the thing about them is that they don’t see that there’s a difference between the large, major state Universities like UK, or Ohio State, Florida, etc, and the mid-majors like WKU when it comes to sports. They truly believe that Western is equal to those athletic programs and don’t understand why Western never gets national attention. I’m a teacher here in Warren County and work with a lot of those people and I want to slap them sometimes due to their stupidity.
