Reiber is going to get burnLet's discuss lineups and rotation.
Mulcahy
Geo
Harper
Hyatt
Cliff
McConnell
Jones
Transfer center backup
Mag
Palmquist
Just a total guess. Thoughts?
I think we're on the same page. Jones may be one of our 5 best players, but I don't know if Pike starts him. Doesn't seem to be his style. Not sure who he takes a job from, though.I think beginning of the season will be: Geo, Ron, Mulcahy, Hyatt, and Cliff O starting 5.
By NYD 2022, starting 5 will be Geo, Ron, Jones, Hyatt, Cliff O.
If he shoots well enough, he'll take minutes from somebodyI think we're on the same page. Jones may be one of our 5 best players, but I don't know if Pike starts him. Doesn't seem to be his style. Not sure who he takes a job from, though.
Mag is going to surprise people this year. Think he breaks out and plays a good amountIt’s the rotation that matters

Agree. He and Hyatt seem to be similar type players and Hyatt is ahead right now.I really agree with you ...but my question is ...at whose minute expense ? I can’t find minutes for him under my mpg without him legit jumping someone
having said that ...I see a 25 mpg role for him in 2022-2023....
IMO, Jalen Miller has to play some minutes. He is the only fast guard on the roster and Rutgers will face many fast guards.Jalen Miller and Jaden Jones should find minutes every night. Just waiting to see Aundre Hyatt, now more than 2 years off that knee injury, to hit that stride of being that Yeboah type player of 2 years ago.
Add that back up big man and there's a lot of layers of experience and some youth to mix into a development for the future.
A freshman guard is almost certainly not going to be a plus defender in the Big TenIMO, Jalen Miller has to play some minutes. He is the only fast guard on the roster and Rutgers will face many fast guards.
Marcus Carr is gone from Minnesota, Washington is gone from OSU...but someone needs to guard the remaining fast, penetrating guards in the league like Curbelo or Wheeler.
Fixed it for you.If he plays D well enough, he'll take minutes from somebody
Our 2 best players last year, BY FAR, are gone.
Harper was our best player for 40% of the season. Also we were a tournament team the year before and Jacob Young was really not good that season. Our 2 best players last year, BY FAR, are gone.

Like Montez Mathis ?A freshman guard is almost certainly not going to be a plus defender in the Big Ten
But that doesn’t mean that the minutes that are available are filled BETTER by their replacementsOur 2 best players last year, BY FAR, are gone.
I agree with this Shack. Cliff has potential to be as good as Myles (in a different way). And Jones has potential to be just a bad a matchup problem as Young was (also in a different way). But that doesn’t mean that the minutes that are available are filled BETTER by their replacements
see Eugene his soph year replacing
see Ron his soph year replacing Eugene
time will tell but I predict
-cliff develops and in different ways adds up to be an equal player in total than myles
-Jaden develops and in different ways adds up to be a close to an equal player than young
-Paul, Caleb, Ron and geo get better...which means more effocicnet on both ends even if the stats don’t go up
-and I think Hyatt is a big upgrade for Mathis ...mostly because we replace a swing man with a combo forward that we didn’t have with no Akawsi last year. Will help us be a better rebounder team
Points are the easiest thing to replace. I like what we are rounding into ....a lot
Theres a chance if things break right, this team could be better than last year's teamBut that doesn’t mean that the minutes that are available are filled BETTER by their replacements

Big Ten Coaches disagree. Harper 3rd Team, Geo Honorable Mention. But they’re not there for the hot takes. Can’t be Big Ten defensive player of the year if you’re on the bench with foul trouble. Our 2 best players last year, BY FAR, are gone.
Some forget Geo was playing through a high ankle sprain last yr. He could have a big yearBig Ten Coaches disagree. Harper 3rd Team, Geo Honorable Mention. But they’re not there for the hot takes.
We must watch different games. Myles easily has been our most valuable player the past 2 years.Big Ten Coaches disagree. Harper 3rd Team, Geo Honorable Mention. But they’re not there for the hot takes. Can’t be Big Ten defensive player of the year if you’re on the bench with foul trouble.

Not sure about that, I can see times when we have a ton of foul trouble early, like Cliff, Reiber, and Agee all have 2 fouls with 3 minutes to go in the half. This is where I see Nathan in just to hold the fort down until halftime. Other situations similar to this as well. < 5 min/g, but certainly meaningful minutes from time to time.Nathan won't see a meaningful minute all season
Young put the team on his back in thd Maryland and purdue games in 2020. His performances the end of the last two seasons punched our ticket to the danceHarper was our best player for 40% of the season. Also we were a tournament team the year before and Jacob Young was really not good that season.
Myles was a terrific rebounder but as a team we were quite bad. There's more upside than meets the eye there, I think.
This is the optimistic case. Not necessarily the realistic case.
There’s no question that we went through offensive droughts and the only one who was scoring was Young. This is going to be a different offense without him. Jaden Jones could become the guy we lean on.Young put the team on his back in thd Maryland and purdue games in 2020. His performances the end of the last two seasons punched our ticket to the dance
What do you make of our rebounding dropping off so much last year?We must watch different games. Myles easily has been our most valuable player the past 2 years.
