...maybe Cal should treat next year as strictly a development year. Let players play through mistakes. Nick. Quickley. Baker. Guys like that. Jorts would have simply been another Isaac if we didn't need every minute we could get out of him. Think of how much Pelphrey and Feldhaus grew in 1989-90.

Maybe not go after a quick fix. That hasn't worked the last four years.

And maybe you could use next year to disappear from this board. You can call it a development year.

He should finally let players play through mistakes?

Has he ever not allowed starters to play through mistakes?
The answer to your double negative is "Yes" !! He has NOT let players play through mistakes. He yanks them willy-nilly. His players play scared because of his sideline hystrionics. Everything he does on the sideline adversely affects the entire team's self-confidence. But, if you need me to point this out to you, then you don't have ears to hear the facts about Calipari. anyway.

Yeah that's what I want, too watch terrible basketball.

Our fans can be so stupid at times. I bet the OP is part of the crowd that complained about Cal playing the twins so much too...

He sure let Ashton play through his mistakes and it killed us.

Sooner or later you have to. Why not early in the season? Pitino took his lumps in 1989 (yes, I realize he had no choice). As a result, Pel, Feldhaus and Sean Woods were a solid core for two more seasons. Mashburn didn't do it all by himself.

I'm just saying now that Cal has a lifetime contract, he can take a year to kind of set the program up for future success. Let players develop instead of leaving for the NBA or for other programs. This "throw together the highest rated stars we can get and keep second level guys on the bench" stuff isn't working now that the top five guys aren't coming here any more. Would have loved to see Isaac Humphries get more playing time. Charles Matthews. Nick Richards. Guys who need time to develop but can't get it here.
