"Duh" U...stupidest nickname in ALL of college football. Every ******* school that is a "University" could call themselves the same and Utah was doing it for decades prior to The 'Canes.

Nuts, you wanted a Wiscy beat down, you got a Wiscy wear 'em down.

I was down 3000 pts, in 3rd (out of 11), in my bowl pool going into yesterday. I will be in 1st when this ends, up a couple hundred, riding the B1G the last 2 days. Wiscy was my "sure thing" and I put 2500 on the against the spread tonight! Love it! $500 pot but a long way to go!

Wiscy started 9 seniors on D.

And they lose only one starter on O. QB is a soph. Have a Soph WR and 3 Freshman. Best RB in the BIG next year is a Freshman this year (from NJ). Their D has been very good for 4 years now. I assume they will reload and be very good again.

Forced? By whom? This isn't the tournament. Bowls have been looking to book local teams for as long as there have been bowls.

Now if Miami were selected for the playoff, and the Orange Bowl was one of the semifinal sites, and Miami got placed there, then you'd have an argument.

No he wouldn’t have an argument. Top seed gets heavy input as to what semifinal location they want. This year Clemson opted for New Orleans.

+1

per CFP website:

When assigning teams to the two sites, the selection committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.

also-- re: other NY Bowls:
Following the Playoff Semifinal pairings, the matchups for the New Year's Bowls will be determined. When assigning teams to New Year's Bowls, the selection committee aims to create competitive matchups, while avoiding rematches of regular-season games and repeat appearances in specific bowls. The selection committee also considered geography when assigning New Year's Bowl pairings.

The Orange Bowl will determine its matchup in 2017-18. In non-semifinal years, the "contract bowls" (Orange, Rose and Sugar) make their own pairings outside the CFP arrangement. Generally, they will take the champion of their contracted conference; if that champion qualifies for the playoff, the bowl will then choose a replacement from that conference.

Orange Bowl: ACC vs. SEC, Big Ten or Notre Dame*
Rose Bowl: Big Ten vs. Pac-12
Sugar Bowl: SEC vs. Big 12

The following will inform the Orange Bowl’s selection of the opponent for the ACC Champion or next highest ranked ACC team not in the playoff:

  • After the Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl have chosen, the highest ranked available non-playoff, non-champion of the SEC or Big Ten or Notre Dame.
  • Over the eight years, a minimum of three SEC and three Big Ten appearances must occur, and a maximum of two Notre Dame appearances can occur.

Their O is loaded but Wiscy doesn’t have Bama/OSU depth the D will take a BIG hit losing 9 starters.

As much as inwant that to be a TD I don't think that was a score. Replay got it wrong again. The bad replays just balanced out.
Not really. Stopped drive and field position and momentum vs would have scored anyway.
It was fun to follow this outsider view of the game. I believe several guys on D have another year as they are RS juniors. Orr was star starter but injured and will be back. Probably end up with 7 that started some games.
