They have no answer for Towns either.

They have no answer for any of our players. They have been mediocre on defense all season and flat out bad the last month.

It's the defensive side of the court that's key.

I'm cautiously optimistic about these things. Especially after the ND game. I really thought we would dominate them on the offensive end but we really struggled to score for whatever reason. Yeah KAT did his job but none of our guards penetrated the lane like we've seen them do all year and we just played out of sorts on offense. 68 points is not a good showing against the 99th rated defense.
Players sometimes play different in tournament play than they have all season long. Hopefully the stage isn't too big for guys like Ulis and Booker.

53% shooting. We really struggled.

We really need more than 68 points. Not sure that gets it done. We did struggle even though on paper it does not seem so.

imho....
Ulis is an important player for us, but he is not the key to today's game. KAT, WCS, Lyles, Booker, and the twins are the keys today.

and who do you think will get them the ball?

If they double down on KAT the kick out pass to Ulis will be his shot.

Wisconsin's main objective will be to get Karl in foul trouble. With Towns hitting jump hooks, the Badgers have no chance.

You say "cautiously optimistic", I'm hearing "negative nancy".

This may come as a big shock, but the other posters on this board know how the game is played. Basketball is a team sport. I get it. Ulis is an important player, but probably not THE key today. Hint. How did Kentucky beat Notre Dame? KAT scoring on low block. And what needs to be cleaned up from that game? Pick and role defense. We win today by keeping KAT out of foul trouble and making Kaminsky guard him. Yes, someone must pass the ball to the low block. That's how the game is played. Ulis will be 1 of those passers. KAT has shot the ball 245 times this year, hitting 56%. Ulis has shot 161 times, hitting 40%. KAT and Andrew are starters. They are the keys, even though everyone including Ulis will have important roles.

People are both right and wrong about the offense in the ND game. It did not struggle, and was not bad, but as Coach Cal said, in the first half they did miss a ton of 1-2 ft bunnies. We need to make those shots against Wisconsin and hopefully Duke/MSU. Yes, we shot 53% overall, but against ND we probably should have made 4-5 more bunnies and shot closer to 60%.

And guess what, UK can shoot 55-60% with ease tonight and Monday if they want as no one left plays any D really.

It's a game of matchups as always. Who can stop Tyler, the Harrison's, Booker and KAT? Who for UK can stop Dekker and Kaminsky at the 3-point line?

Look for the X-factor in these games that no one is talking about. Lee or DJ or maybe even Hawkins who played and scored in the game last year. Gasser or Hayes or Dukan for Wisky. I like the Kentucky talent, the Kentucky bench and the Kentucky defense especially.
