Haven’t seen much discussion on here about them. 6 hour time difference certainly stinks when attempting to watch live. Know curling has become kind of a cliche sport to like. It’s not terribly exciting, but pretty good semi-finals match between USA and Italy in Mixed-Doubles. Italy is defending Olympic Champs I believe. Pretty entertaining and intense match. The Italian chick is easy on the eyes as well.

I didn't even realize they were coming up until I heard something about the opening ceremony on Friday.

It's kind of hard for me to get into the Olympics much like I used to with how global everything is. Most of the top swimmers in the world train at a facility in Florida. Frankly, many of the world's top athletes train in the US then go home to compete for their home countries. Eileen Gu was born and raised in America but represents China. Armand Duplantis was born and raised in Louisiana, went to LSU (as did both of his parents), but he represents Sweden.

I know there's always been this kind of stuff going on to some degree, but it's more common now. In part, it's a much more mobile world. The kicker for me was in the last summer Olympics and seeing all these swimmers from other countries who train in Florida year-round. Or seeing some other athlete introduced from Kyrsbekestan who trains in Phoenix.

It feels much less like country vs country now. The athletes are still fantastic. It's just hard for me to care as much when China's best skier is a born and bred American or other country's top athletes train here.

For me the Olympics should be Rocky vs Drago.

By the way, the US team did comeback in the 8th (frame?) to win after choking bigtime in the 7th. They play Sweden for the gold tomorrow at noon.

I hurt for the hot Italian chick though.

It's also amazing how many of the Olympic athletes for other countries got full rides at American universities in their given sports. Moreso in the summer games than the winter games, but still.

🤣🤣 That video does at least show why the winter Olympics can be so fun for American viewers, vs the summer games. When we win a medal in the winter games, it's usually an upset, because as that video shows, we are definitely underdogs in most of these sports.

Women's Hockey, tomorrow: USA vs Canada at 2:10 PM. Being retired, I actually like the time difference. It will be so much better than the 2028 Summer Games in LA.

That kind of thing usually happens because they cannot qualify for the US team though.

Well, USA mixed doubles curling is advancing to the gold metal...match? No idea what it's called in curling. First time they'll play for gold. That's interesting.

Sorry I quit watching the Olympics a couple of times ago. Don`t want to risk investing time & energy into pulling for someone only to risk he turns into an unappreciative ****head and disses the country that is responsible for giving him the opportunity anyone would relish. Sort of like turning off the halftime show to the other one so as not to have woke stuff shoved in my face. I respect the talented athletes and most are appreciative but it shouldn`t have gotten to this point.

Some weenie douche skier said he was not proud to represent the US with some of the things going on here.

Got ripped for it so he said he's very proud to represent the US.

Enjoyed the USA Hockey game today. They dominated.

Hated to see the Mixed Doubles team lose the gold medal match to Sweden.

Really looking forward to the Men’s Hockey team play 3 times in 4 days beginning Thursday. Obviously Canada is the team to beat, but the US has its best chance at Gold in years.
